I woke up this morning to a horrific sound...... (this is not the first time, but it is the first time this year!)
It is some kind of bird, but it sounds like something hacking wood. I spent a ton of time this morning with my friend 'google' trying to find out what kind of bird it was, but no luck.
The best I could come up with was this something that sounds like the bird in the link below, this but this is slightly higer pitched, mine would be a deeper more annoying version.
The odd thing about this bird is that it only chirps really early, by 6am it is gone for the day !
Take a listen and let me know if you have any idea what local birds sounds just a little worse then this !
.
Are you sure that wasnt your early bird neighbour curing his hangover first thing in the morning or swearing the weather...???
No, it wasnt him, but I did hear him cursing as he slammed the windows shut in his apartment !
The most annying bird at the moment for me is Amanda Holden.
I'd make a guess at a Green Woodpecker. An explosive 'hyak hyak hyak hyak', tailing off slightly as it goes?
I was just about to page you!
Not sure if this is correct, but if it is a Magpie, then you have my deepest sympathy. My old house in England had a tree in the garden with Magpies nesting. EVERY morning at dawn in the summer I was woken by this horrible sound.
Magpies appear to be very common in Switzerland.
A Magpie it is........ I am not one for disrupting wildlife but I wont have a problem if one of the other neighbours does !
Thanks !
When I played the link that's what I thought too. It's the only bird I can think of in Switzerland that comes close. Listen here:

I guess as long as it only chirps, it is absolutely in order in this country, where the loud part of work has to be done between 6 and 7am as a custom, right before zmorge.
