Motorcycle Driver license

Must wear a helmet (not learner permit specific) (Art. 3b VRV) Must have a blue L plate (Art. 27 Abs. 1 VRV) Cannot ride abroad, save Liechtenstein (Vienna convention on road traffic and Art.3 of the treaty road traffic between Liechtenstein and Switzerland) Must not use the autobahn, unless ready for practical exam (Art. 27 Abs. 4 VRV) Can only have a pillion rider, which has the permit to ride the bike themselve (Art. 27 Abs. 3 VRV) Must do the mandatory 3 x 4 h basic motorcycle training within 4 months of getting learner permit (unless already done in the past) (Art. 19 VZV)

In particular riding at night, rain, snow, and with shorts, flip-flops, and w/o gloves is allowed.

For the pracical exam proper gear is needed. It might rain on that day, be prepared.

A motorcycle learner's permit is valid for 4 month + 12 months. (If you already did the basic training, then only for 12 month). If you do the practical exam (you have 3 attempts), the examiner assumes you are able to ride motorcycle. Not just barely but properly and safely. While there is no minimum km you have to do in this period, the more the better. Thus, most will use most of the learners permit time to practice. Obviously, you can do the practical exam sooner, get rid of the L plate, and ride abroad.

Thanx for all the info. Wow.

So I guess I will not be begging some of the schools to let me do 12h private lessons as soon as possible in the spring (I can see that most of them start in April), and just get started.

Switzerland is probably one of the coolest places to ride a bike. Looking so much forward to it already.
