Hi Guys,
Wondering if someone can offer some advice - I am moving from Gland ( Vaud ) into downtown Geneva and am looking for a good company who can help move my stuff for me. I don't have a car, dammit, so I'm looking for a van and a driver.
Actually, I really don't have that much stuff ( literally, boxes - no real furniture to speak of, except a click clack bed, perhaps ) so maybe even someone with a big van who could help out for a few hours.
My new apartment is on the top floor so would also need assistance to carry upstairs etc etc but ( depending on the size of the van ) I reckon the whole lot could be done in about 2-3 hours.
Thanks for any advice
M
Well, there's a man with a van who posts regularly in the classifieds section on glocals.com, you could look him up there or google ueli weder. I haven't used him, but there are a couple of reviews on that site too.
Otherwise if you speak French, there are a bunch of small independent guys who do exactly this sort of thing. These fellows delivered a couch to me from the Salvation Army this afternoon, and they seemed to have been in the demenagement business for a while: 078 757 9800. I don't even know what his name is, just tell him you'd like to move some stuff Shouldn't cost more than about 200 francs, lifting included.
I'd like to put in a good word for Ueli Weder. He moved a couple of beds for me from Geneva to a mountain village just before Christmas and was careful, reliable and good value. I'd definitely use him again.
His details are:

If you don't have much stuff why don't you ask your friends ?
Just rent a van and you end the day with a good meal.
I would not recommend to use services of Mr. Sandy (williamstrading)
I hired them recently for simple move and they managed to damage walls in old apartment on multiple places. On top of that they visibly damaged some furniture. For this Mr. Sandy kindly suggested that his insurance will take care of it. Evan asked for photos and original invoice. After I went through pain to provide requested, never heard back from him.
Overall, miserable experience, incompetent and people that you simply can't trust.
Cheers,
Gojko
Moving from Gland to Geneva on 27 October and looking to transport some boxes, suitcases and bikes, probably one van's worth.
Will check out the above suggestions, but thought I'd ask if someone simply wanted to help a brother out and enjoy a meal/drinks afterward.
also look on
www.worldradio.ch in the classifieds section
If you just need a van then get it from patricklocation.ch. that's the cheapest option and I never had any problems.
