Anyone living in Aarau?
How do you like it there?
How are the playgrounds, daycare centres, primary schools, after-school child care services?
How's the community life?
Do you think one could get by with zero (Swiss-) German in the first few months?
Any recommendation for a good family doctor, paediatrician, dentist?
Also, do you use public transport to Basel and/or Zurich or would you rather drive?
We're moving to downtown Aarau, so we'd be most grateful for any advice/recommendations you may want to share.
TIA!
I live near Aarau. Because I don't have small children anymore, I can't provide as much information to you as I would like.
1- Yes. I do like it here because it is has all the amenity for daily living. One is not far from any major cities.
2- Sorry. Can't help there. But there are usually a play area in the residential area.
3- A good public library and they have regular 'talking library' for children.
4- Good primary school. One has only recently being upgraded with new facilities.
5- Zero German should not be a problem. People are happy to be able to communicate with you in English. They see us as a novelty.

Dr. Etter was very good, when my children were young.
7-I am a driving person because SBB is expensive. I do not have a half price card. Look up SBB for a family card, it might work out cheaper for you.
I hope this is of some help to you.
