Moving to another Gemeinde during naturalization

Hi all,

Currently my naturalization is in progress in its initial stages.

I except some few months till the Gemeinde approval Stadt ZH.

However, i found a flat that i really like in Dielsdorf, is there a way to get a permission to move before the approval?

Furthermore l, if i do sign the contract for the mew flat, am i obliged to register in Dielsdorf or this is not controlled?

All the best.

Be very careful. Pending final decision (or a letter confirming that you can move), moving from the Gemeinde can nullify the process. Remember, in CH, you are a citizen of Gemeinde which is recognised by the Kanton and Bund.

If you move from one Gemeinde to another, you must deregister from the old one and reregister to the new one. Don't try and game the system, especially if you're trying for naturalisation.

If you change Gemeinde, you will have to start again. You need 2 years for Dielsdorf.

Decide whether you want the flat and possibly naturalisation in 4 years. Or naturalisation in 2 years.

Part of the process is that you show your are integrated and understand the country - you become a citizen of a community, they are part of the process. Applying for citizenship and then heading off somewhere else will cause the process to restart and demonstrate you are not integrated and understand the country.

You can officially move within Switzerland without jeopardizing your application as soon as Stadt Zürich has enough information to examine your application, this is typically soon after local interviews/tests and this right to move is guaranteed by federal law.

Art. 18 Abs. 2 BüG

You are of course allowed to have as many rental contracts on your name as you wish. Just continue having your primary residence in Zürich ZH and register as weekly commuter in Dielsdorf until you are ready to fully move.
