Moving to CH, can I pay 0 tax on stocks?

Hi All,

I live in Germany. I have a significant amount of stocks in Nasdaq. I wonder as I move to Switzerland, now will I pay 0 tax? If not, how will I calculate the tax ratio?

Thanks in advance

The year end value would be part of the calculation for wealth tax.

Assuming you are not treated as a professional trader you will have no capital gains tax.

Any dividend income will be added to your ordinary income.

You can deduct an amount of the total holdings (0.3% I have in mind for Zurich and Schwyz) from your income for management fees.

I am not sure I understood. I really bad in these things

Let me make an example, hopefully, I can understand that better.

I received stock that costs 100k in Germany.

It is 200k now as of March 2022.

I move Zurich.

In 2023, the stock is 300k and I want to sell.

How much tax am I going to pay?

I made 100k in Germany and 100k on top of that in Zurich. In Germany, the trading tax is 25%.

0, that is called capital gains tax and in Switzerland it is 0%.

If you are a trader (that means trading stocks is your job), you have to register as one, then you pay income tax, search for it in the canton you want to live in.

first question you might need to ask is whether you have exit taxes from deemed disposals once you leave Germany.
