Moving to Morges

Hi everyone

Well, after months of 'will they, won't they?' my husband's company's FINALLY come through with a relocation offer to Switzerland! So in 2-3 months, we'll be in or around Morges!

'We' is myself, husband and two children, a boy of almost 8 and a girl of almost 4. We've decided on local schooling (the fact that the company won't cough for international schools obviously helped us along in this decision), so we've convinced ourselves of the merits of bilingualism at their tender ages.

Anyone happen to know the area around Morges, and has any experiences/ hearsay/ scurrilous gossip about local areas and schools..? - I'd be very keen to hear it.

And everyone else will no doubt be keen to hear that since I've been lurking for months, I shall try really hard not to ask tiresome questions about schooling, salary levels, types of flour, etc etc...

Thanks for informing me to date, and look forward to taking part once I'm more knowledgable.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you and your family will have a great time living in Morges. It sounds like you're already slightly ahead of the game - you know the right questions to ask and where to ask them, so I'm sure that things will go well for you. Sorry that I can't answer your questions, but I justed wanted to give you a welcome.

Hi

I hope your move goes well. I strongly recommend you buy a copy of "living and working in Switzerland". It is invaluable.

I am afraid I know nothing about the local schools but I am sure you have found out that the starting age is later than in the UK.

I do know of a place that has a bi-lingual pre school (as well as other activities). It is called Edukids. It is not that far from Morges. Quite a few expats use it. http://www.edukids.ch

Thanks for the welcome, guys. Got the 'Living and Working' book and have read it from cover to cover twice already (I'm a over-researcher by nature, as will no doubt become irritatingly apparent when I get into my questioning stride!).

Schools - yep, I'm resigned to the late start AND the bizarre 'coming home for lunch' custom. Fortunately, my younger child wasn't due to start in the UK 'til this September anyway, so I hadn't got accustomed to having six hours all to myself every weekday.

Edukids looks good, I've bookmarked it and will definitely pop over once we've landed.

Thanks again
