? mud dauber wasp building a nest in my kitchen

??? I have googled, but I think a mud dauber wasp is building a nest in the gap next to the airvent in my kitchen. I just banged the wall when it was trying to go in there and a piece of mud was left behind on the wall. Theres lots of dots of mud around the part it's entering.

Maybe it's not a mud dauber ? It's all black has a body then a thin waist and then another body is the only way I can describe it.

What should I do?

Call the fire brigade ....... seriously - but not the emergency number - find out the number of your local one from the Gemeinde.

This is one of the many jobs that comes under their auspices - removal of wasp and hornet nests. If nothing else, they may be able to leave you with a very strong and deadly wasp killer spray.

There may be a fee - I can't remember. Probably best to ask up front.

I had a wasp nest in between the blind and the wall. I went to Coop and bought this.

I had to spray twice, but got the job done.

The sooner you get them out, the better. Good luck.

Thankyou, well I closed the kitchen window and then after writing this I opened it as it's so hot and within seconds it flew back in... not a happy wasp I might add it went a bit nuts flying around where the nest it's been building was and I ushered it out and will keep the window closed for a few days now. I will tell the guy who looks after our apartment on monday morning and show him the mud deposits also. It only found us around 1am today so I'm guessing it's just been building and hasn't had a chance to lay yet?

should I spray hairspray in the gap in the meantime?

Why, did it look a bit disheveled?

Just an update

My landlord has covered the cost for an exterminator!!!

Apparently we are the first case they've had where the nest was indoors!!

And ask your landlord to have the exterminator come again next year when summer starts. Just to spray that area again.

Heard that from the exterminator who removed a wasp nest just this morning in our shed

Thank you

The guy who came sprayed a powder and as they were going through a gap above the cupboard and the ceiling, he said that it will stay there and as soon as anything tries to get in there will inhale it and die. So basically as I won't be able to clean it it will stay there and continue to be effective. But I will be aware of what you've said.

Can I ask how much it cost you please? I'm curious .

This was in our place in Berlin so not comparable to Switzerland, EUR 70
