My company will give me stock, how do I calculate their tax?

Hello, I am planning to move to Zurich and I am in the process of speaking with the company at the moment.

For example, if my company pays: 200k salary and 200k in stock, How do I calculate their tax?

I used the following website to calculate tax. For a single person, it shows net income ~250k when I put income 400k. Is it accurate?

Follow-up question - As far as I understand, pension, OASI is paid as a percentage. In this case, is the income from the stock also taken into account?

Thank you very much

Is it immediately available stock or vested?

Many companies in CH do not pay pension (second pillar) contribution on anything more than the minimum required so would not pay this on stock or bonus etc.

OASI is indeed paid on all income with some of the insurances only paid up to a certain amount but its small stuff.

In that calculator you need to enter the 400K as gross income to have an idea of the tax. Net income is not income after tax in CH. It is income post company deductions. I find the website pretty accurate except if you have extraordinary situation.

It will be given as unvested stock units, but it will be vested each quarter.

Tax-wise, each vesting is an income-generating event for the total market value of the stocks that have vested.

You will discuss the specifics with your company I think (how the withholding taxes will work, how these will be declared on your salary slip etc.) but if you are currently just trying to estimate what will your after tax income be - just consider how much stocks will vest per year and add it to your taxable income (of course no-one knows exactly how much it will be valued at in future when it vests)
