I'm guessing you want these for school. At my son's school it seemed anything was OK as long as the kids didn't go outside in them. They changed into them before going into the classroom.
Soft slippers, plimsolls or crocs seemed to be the most common. As far as I can tell they just stay at school for the whole year unless they are way too small or completely wrecked by a boy who is too lazy to put them on properly.(as in my son's case)
Yes, these are for school. I wasn't sure what really qualified as indoor slippers. We don't wear shoes or slippers inside, and in the USA "indoor slippers" are house shoes - which are slip on and furry, and are reminiscent (at least in my mind) of Hugh Hefner in his smoking robe and house slippers and it was all very weird.
I can do crocs. Crocs are normal, and we have a gazillion pairs. I wouldn't consider them slippers tho. Can we send a pair that *has* been worn outside, or do they have to be new with tags?
You can recycle them, of course. No tags needed. Just wash them so they don't look warn on the garden. That's what I do with my kiddo and crocs that supposed to be pantoufles interiors.
It was explained to me that kids can't wear their outdoor shoes in school because they tread a load of muck into the classroom. They can't go round in their socks because of the risk they'll slip over and/or run holes in them.
And no the indoor shoes don't have to be new with tags on just as long as they are clean. It is as Sandgrounder said to prevent them taking all sorts of muck and stuff into the classroom with them.
We had to change into the plimsolls when I was at school in the UK back in the dark ages.
in our school they have to have the slippers/crocs for the classroom and when they have gym class they need a very thin plimsoll like what they use for gymnastics so no real sole on them kind of like a ballet shoe.
The ones normally used are a bit plainer, lol. Have a look at the ones at Ochsner- several types, but like the ones in the picture above, posted by runningdeer.
Just to add - our school doesn't accept crocs as slippers (indoor shoes, whatever you want to call them, they are "finken" in Swiss German) - they specify in their list that finken must not fall off their feet when they are jumping around and it says "no crocs and closed at the back" specifically .
For gym shoes, although the school recommends those material plimsoley type things, and that's what I initially bought, I understand from my son that "those are for guuurrls - uuuugh" and that all boys wear just (indoor only) trainers for gym/sports/movement or whatever it is they do. No idea if this is true, but for the sake of him not being a social outcast he has indoor trainers (i.e. ones with non-marking soles) instead.
if it's for a swiss school then you need to get them ones that are open with adjustable straps so that they are comfortable even in winter with socks on trust me i know what i'm talking about
as wattsli1 said, unless specifically stated that they have to be closed at the back, they can be anything that will never be worn outside. Can be crocs, furry slip ons, padded with rubber soles, whatever...as long as it's a non-slipping shoe and ensures the kid a good grip around the curves.
