I weep for you.
That is nothing to do with internet speed, that is CPU (processing power) and RAM.
Am not in CH, but slumming it in London docklands sharing a copper connection with 4 people that really sucks with 45ms pings. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4799938955
Never had a problem with them and the downloads are amazing. Constant 120MB/s on downloads (private FTP and private torrent trackers)
I am using a Ubiquiti Edge Router Lite and most of my connection is on cable. Just the Ipads, Iphones are on Wifi.

I'll post some speedtest results this evening.
I have serious speed envy right now.
What kinda throughput are you getting on the wireless? You're on init7's stock modem?

It is only wired and and amazing router for it's price. Better than most Cisco out there.
For Wireless I use a Netgear Extender: Netgear EX7000
Most of my stuff is connected thorugh LAN cables (PC, Dune multimedia players etc.)
Fibre7 seems to offer extraordinary value for stripped bare fast internet without all the other stuff you didn't ask for (or need).
CHF777 / year plus the one-off installation/hardware costs for modem/router is spectacular compared with chf1200/yr for Sunrise gigabit cable or 1668/yr for good old Swisscom (albeit with free hardware, billed monthly in arrears etc., etc).
Understandable, then, that it is very basic site with very limited info in EN. But for that price, the extra effort is worth it.
Seriously considering it.
For the price Init7 offers its Fiber7 services there is nothing out there that can compete. No issues so far and awesome speeds + low latency.
These are my results
I was just downloding Starcraft II - Legacy of the Void

So far 160 000 Buildings have access. An other 80 000 should be connected till end of 2019.
It is an open access network, and Fiber7 is just one, although the one with the best 1Gb/s offer, of many providers.
With an Asus AC68U I was not getting this speeds. "Only" ~850mbps
