Make sure the VPI/VCI are 8 and 35 respectively, make sure you're connecting with PPPoE, and the bit that I got wrong was that I was trying to use LLC/SNAP as the virtual circuit multiplexing. Changing that to VC muxed sorted out the problem.
I already have VPI/VCI are 8 and 35 & am connecting with PPPoE.
I changed from LLC to VC but still did not connect.
Had to change this mux on my old modem as I could not find out where to change this on the newer modem.
TBH I fail to see why sunrise can't or won't activate this router until nearly 2 weeks time. This is incredibly bad customer service, even for Switzerland. I'm certainly going to be getting some pricing and install times for this fibre thingy now.
Edit: what is your newer router? Often the advanced settings are hidden away, and you need to do a bit of RTFM with the full manual to find out where to access them. That full manual often doesn't come with the device these days, but needs to be downloaded as a PDF.
As ADSL is point to point I assume they have to change a physical connection somewhere & do some software configuring.
After only 2 hours on the phone together my new sunrise modem (Fitz!box) works.
Started well, yesterday was the day for sunrise to convert my Fitzbox connection from ADSL to VDSL.
So in the morning I reconfigured my Fitzbox as instructed to VDSL & "wow" got a working VDSL connection.
Another piece of good news; I thought I was going to have to abandon phones in other rooms because according to the installation instructions all phones have to be directly connected to the Fitzbox. Anyway turns out the Fitzbox is DECT capable so I could wireless connect my cordless phones direct to the Fitzbox - no need for long extension cables.
Then at 3pm yesterday the VDSL/internect connection stopped working & still does not work. The modem connection is OK just no internet PPOE connection & no fixnet phones. Aaarrgghh
All you need is a sunrise... just a moment of dawn,
If you're lost in the twilight, close your eyes and move on (<--- hint here!!)
I thought unplugging the power suppy & reconnecting would reboot it.
No, you have to go into the menu & pick reset!
Phone & Internet runs now
These scammers are getting quite cheeky!!!
Be careful out there!!
I mentioned that I could connect my cordless phones via DECT (wireless).
Anyway my wife was talking on one phone when the other rang; I could answer it & talk as usual - both phones in use at the same time.
Seems like a benefit they could market - maybe they do & I never saw it
