Myofascial therapy in Zurich

I have some peculiar back pain since a couple of years. I've tried many things but lately somebody recommended me "Myofascial therapy".

I google it and this is the description of it:

"Myofascial Therapy (also known as myofascial release therapy or myofascial trigger point therapy) is a type of safe, low load stretch that releases tightness and pain throughout the body caused by myofascial pain syndrome, which describes chronic muscle pain that is worse in certain areas known as trigger points. Myofascial therapy relieves soft tissue restrictions that cause pain."

Did you try myofascial therapy? can you recommend me a good therapist in zurich?

many thanks

Ela

I would be interested myself in the answer.

Meanwhile self-administered trigger point massage (using balls, rollers etc) can be very effective: you dont need to be a therapist to know when you've found a trigger point I can promise you.

Check out this book: The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook - Your Self-Treatment Guide for Pain Relief - Clair Davies

and meanwhile search YouTube under variants of "trigger point". Alternatively and a bit more sports oriented would be www.mobilitywod.com who uses a lot of mobilization and trigger point techniques.

It is a little bit sports oriented with all those devices around!...

thanks again

Yes, it's a spin off of the Crossfit training movement which is quite equipment intensive, but there's a lot of portable exercises there too.

But the basic equipment can be assembled for a few CHF: a street hockey ball, or tennis ball to start out, an stretch band, and maybe a purpose made roller, although I made mine out of some 5inch drainpipe tubing and under parquet floor liner for padding.

One of the big concepts is that where the pain is might not be where the problem is, so you should work the whole "chain". So f.e. back pain might be a byproduct of tight hamstrings and quads
