Mystery Writers in German

For logistic reasons, I can't go to German Lessons for a while. I finished at A2-B1 level, probably the latter (optimistic, me).

Since I don't want to completely lose what I've learnt, I thought I'd start with some serious reading. By that, I mean normal books, not just the easy ones with easy vocabulary for foreigners.

What I enjoy reading the most is Mystery (Krimis). I've got a few names (Roger Graf, Felicitas Mayall), but I need your help to find more.

So, Mystery writers in German, no translations, please.

Would you tell me your favourites? Thanks

The late Jakob Arjouni ́s Kayankaya series.

Frank Schätzing has written a few thrillers.

Wolf Haas as an Austrian writer,

Martin Suter ́s Allmen series as a Swiss representative on this list.

This might be a good resource: www.krimi-couch.de

I recently bought a book from the Kiosk in Baden called 'Gift im Aargau' by Ina Haller.

My German isn't great so I haven't read much of it yet, but it looks promising.

The author also wrote another "Kriminalroman" called "Tod im Aargau".

I'm just about to start a collection called "Death in Venice and Other Stories" by Thomas Mann. In English. But it appears they were originally in German, so might be interesting to look for.

If you want to try a Swiss classic

Brilliant link. It has a section on German, Austrian and Swiss writers. Thanks!!

I think I'll be getting those, living in AG and all. Thanks H's A

Friedrich Glauser, Wachtmeister Studer.

(and Matto regiert, Die Fieberkurve, Der Chinese, Krock & Co.)

All in one book: ISBN 978-3-86150-892-2.

Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Der Richter und sein Henker.

and Der Verdacht, Das Versprechen, Justiz.

just to name the two most important ones.

And there is Hansjörg Schneider and his Kommissär-Hunkeler.

Which I have never read.

A while ago I was playing Trivial Pursuit, the Swiss German version, with some friends, and Ulrich Knellwolf came up.

I couldn't find him on the link provided by xkcd.

Has anyone read him?
