Battery seems to be going and memory is overloaded and phone seems a bit slow these days. Or perhaps I am growing impatient expecting 20min to instantly popup with all its addons and trackers. On top of that I could use a better camera then 16 MP that auto focuses.
So, time for a new phone!
But I don't want something from China. Nothing to do with the current news leak. Other reasons of course.
So, what can be had for approx. 300 SFr. that is not made in China (Nothing to do with nuclear plant mentioned in other thread)? Is 5g also must. Newest OS? Now have Oreo (8.1).
By the way this is for me and I am not asking for any friend.

Also, recently i bought to my gf a Pixel 4a, made in Vietnam
Most Samsung and LG phones are produced in South-Korea.
Or perhaps a Fairphone.
At digitec there are 28 models with 5 G under 300 sfr:

All of them are chinese or korean
+1 for Fairphone. Strike a blow for European design and attention to human rights and sustainability while you are at it! At least they pay more attention to sources and repairability. But be aware that current models are assembled in Suzhou, China. Still a "fair" tradeoff, no pun intended, depending on one's motivation.
Just about every phone is going to be assembled from parts coming from elsewhere. And in an era such as this with a worldwide chip shortage it is going to be impossible to determine where all the bits have come from.
I’d say the best bet would be to buy something Korean, but ...
A phone also guaranteed not to have any components made in China ?
If you are prepared to compromise on the camera a little, there is this:
i would focus on the manufacturer (and their android version) not being chinese and the cpu not being a chinese design.
More than this and it becomes hard to impossible depending on your definition.
Besides, afaik taiwan is also china. Without taiwan you almost cannot buy modern cpus.
