Need Doctor for Vitiligo / White Spots Treatment in Zurich

Hi,

Can anybody please suggest a good and effective dermatologist for the Vitiligo (also known as White Spots) treatment in Zurich?

I had called up the Dermatology Department of Zurich University but they don't take the patients directly.. You have to be first recommended by a private doctor, only then they do the treatment.

Thanks..

It's been a year since you posted this and I've written you a PM. There is no treatment for Vitiligo that has a 100% success rate.

Thanks Mark for the PM.

I had found a doctor here in Zurich last year. Actually what I have observed from past 20 years is that the treatment for vitiligo is very limited and with fixed options. It hardly depends on the doctor. You have to try and analyse which treatment is best for you.

For me over past more than 20 years, light treatment has been highly effective. I respond only to that. I tried using Protopic ointment and other tropical medicines without any success.

And I do understand it's not 100% success but you can have at least the new spots( about a year old) effectively treated. After coming to Zurich I got my spots treated at a clinic in oerlikon and the new ones did almost disappear. However I am again seeing new ones appear in different places and I plan to again start the UVB treatment.

And another really good thing about the treatment here is that it's covered under the basic insurance.

Let me know by PM if you if you need the doctor's details.

All the best.

This is a long shot, but does anyone know anybody who is using the treatment from Professor Schallreuter, or who is thinking about it? I would hate to have to recycle the home NB-UVB scanning machine, as well as the cream.

Since moving here just under 2 years both my husband and then my son have "come down" with vitiligo. We are looking for a specialist anywhere in Switzerland or France. Can someone please help us with this matter???

Thank you!!!!

Happy for you. Welcome to EF.

Hallo,
We will be moving soon to Zürich and my daughter (7+) has suddenly developed Vitiligo. Right now topical creams are being tried. Can you please point us to good doctors/ Klinik?
Also, can we connect because we have questions about how we as parents should do for her? Plus, which insurance should we opt for keeping this in mind.
Thanks for reading.
Best Regards

I have no experience of vitiligo but my recommendation is that you set yourself up with a paediatrician then get a referral from them to a specialist.

There’s no real distinction within insurance coverage when it comes to specific conditions. Just choose one which fits your basic criteria and price range. They will all cover existing conditions.

Just to clarify this.
The basic insurance will cover all existing conditions irrespective of which company you choose.
Supplementary insurance may exclude existing conditions or even refuse cover altogether (although I suspect that is unlikely for vitiligo).
