So I have a bit of a situiation on my hands..I am kinda at a University in Canada and kinda at a University in Switzerland (bit of a long story).
But I have to write my exams for my Canadain classes very soon; and I cannot for the life of my find someone to administer them (either they are compleatly booked up or they do not do exam writing anymore). I have contacted most places with flying distance, and am running out of options.
So if anyone here is a University professor or works in Human Resources, and would like to earn a some money in the evenings, weekends or spare time (or whenever works for you) and doesn't mind me sitting there quietly writting a test then please get in contact!
I will of course pay you, and I am in desperate need of help! And would be eternally greatfull
poor you, I wish I could help but do not have any of the qualifications, would having a PhD and doing research suffice? Then you can come over Good luck!
I will check I have to call them again today, because otherwise I risk having to go back to Canada just to write a few exams..and a last min flight costs way more than paying someone to 'babysit' me.
Thank you though..I will call them tonight and get back to you!
I'd be willing to do it, but there are a few 'buts':
1. I'm a post-doc researcher at a university. I do teach one course per year, but I'm not officially a professor (even so, I'm currently administering an exam by myself as I write this - I have lots of experience at this task).
2. I live in Lausanne. So, it would probably only work if you could do multiple exams on the same day and I could either come there or you could come here. I have an AG / GA travel pass, so it wouldn't cost me anything except for 5 hours of total travel time.
If these things won't be problems for you then we should be able to work something out.
Wow thanks everyone..I will look into it and let all of you know by tonight hopefully. Im so happy I decided to post this on here..I've had more help here in the last few hours, then I've had in weeks of searching!
There are so many grad students and postdocs on here, have you thought to have one of them ask one of THEIR professors? This assumes the university(ies) doesn't prohibit "side projects" for professors.
If we were already in Lausanne, I'd ask my wife to ask her PI...
[When I first read the title, thought you were a professor in need of a teaching assistant. Around these parts, I think we usually refer to this as "proctoring".]
Not needed this is Switzerland yet, but have you tried the British Council in Bern, they have an exams service and routinely do invigilation. Also, contacting the exams department of the local university could well work, in the past I've used this abroad and it's been very cost effective.
