Anyone in the Neuchatel area know why the motorway under the city was closed on Saturday? We managed to get caught in the traffic and took around 40 minutes to get free of it all. Couldn’t find anything on truckinfo about it.
There was an accident in the tunnel which caused it to be closed in one direction for two hours.
What time was it and what direction were you travelling in?
I guess we got over to Neuchatel around 9.30am. We did see that one lane of the motorway heading towards Lausanne was closed, but we came off before we found out why that was. We didn’t stop long in Neuchatel in the end. Was going to drive around the lake, but took the wrong road so turned on the sat nav to get back home again and it got us to the motorway heading into Neuchatel. Just inside the tunnel the traffic was stopped and then crawled through the tunnel to the next exit where we all had to come off because both lanes were closed ahead. Of course that put us into the local traffic and with all the motorway traffic added we just continued to creep slowly towards the city centre. A police car did pass us in the closed lane before we exited the motorway, but it wasn’t in a hurry so don’t think it was going to any accident. After we left the motorway an ambulance did come with lights and siren going so we all had to get out of its way (though why it didn’t go down the cycle lane which was already clear I don’t know), but that was it.
That would be it then.
The accident happened at around 9am in the tunnel heading towards Bienne and the tunnel was closed for a couple of hours.
The town centre is pretty busy on Saturdays anyway so it must have been horrendous if all the tunnel traffic was going through as well.
Luckily we didn’t go into town on Saturday.
Guess that was it then. By the time we had lunch and then got home it would have cleared so not shown up on truckinfo. Thanks BelgianMum.
