Anyone in/near the area between Kerzers and Bern know what that enormous bridge (I assume) over the A1 motorway is going to be for? I’m guessing it’s something to do with decommissioning Mühleburg nuclear station, but it’s a fair way away from that and there are no roads either side of it so atm it’s not making much sense why they’re building it.
Something that’s equivalent to a 4 or 6 lane highway in width? Don’t think so.
Not sure if it applies here.
There’s that newfangled thing called ASTRA Bridge® (with ASTRA being the federal Autobahn administration), a mobile temporary auxiliary bridge(-let) that’s placed on the Autobahn proper to free the Autobahn underneath from traffic. It elevates the traffic one level up/down with the usual onramp/offramp, thereby allowing roadwork done 24/7 on the road underneath with much less effect on traffic than the common construction sites. The bridge is for one direction only.
A prior trial had to be stopped early because some detail didn’t work, but the concept was shown to work quite well. The improved v2.0 showed some more flaws, perhaps this is another trial. The first “real” use is planned for early 2024 on the A1 between Recherswil and Luterbach.
Does it look like this one? https://www.google.com/maps/@47.3738…2?entry=ttutra
And…learned a new word in German Wildtierüberführung
Yeah, guess that’s it. Wouldn’t have said it needed to be that wide, but …
It’s nowhere near finished so can’t say it looks like that apart from the width of the overpass part.

It’s unlikely that wild animals would freely accept narrow bridges – this type of crossing usually has trees, bushes – general cover planted on them
They need to be wide because wild animals are not known for funnelling into small corridors in order to cross roads, they need the space.
