Dont get me wrong, I Liked Jodie Whittacker. In a Spinnoff, Fine! But as THE Doctor… I dont know.
Seems the verdict is coming in. The episode “The Devils chord” is rated as the worst. Period. Episode. Period. Ever. Period.
This Whoopsie daisy flouncing and mincing will do what generations of villains could not do and kill the Doctor.
go Whoke go broke.
My daughter who switched off during Capaldi found the first episode was of the quality of the Matt Smith and earlier episodes. The second was fun. The Devil’s Chord is the worst of the series so far, but it was considerably less worse than so many of the Capaldi-Whitaker era. Not that there was anything wrong the actors - but the scripts were so dire.
Agree with you here, the actors did the best they could with the lousy scripts they had. I don´t agree with your assessment of The Devils Chord, that is simply the worst I have ever seen.
Sometimes the special effects take over the production, they were very good in The Devils Chord but they were stuck with the script they had.
Edit: Sometimes I have the feeling they took a short story and then had to pad it out to fill the time available, of course, throwing in more special effects helps.
I think that the problem was more that this… Jinkx Monsoon was way too much an overbearing and annoying drag Queen sledgehammer to be able to carry the plot.
74 yards.
If it’s adequately explained later why mum and Kate turned against Ruby then it could be one of the best episodes.
If it’s not, then it’s a terrible story!
Any bets on whether the Kaiser Chiefs, Ruby Ruby Ruby will be part of the sound track at some point?
I Hope it becomes part of the longer storyline.
Dot and Bubble almost redeemed the season so far.
Turns out this doctor is gay.
Well, he’s camp and ambiguous It’s not the first time.
But my word, that episode was dark. Seriously horrific. As my primary teacher daughter said “explain that to your kids”.
This Saturdays episode. So gay that for the first time I stopped watching a Dr. Who.
SO that´s that for me and until they get a decent Dr. Who not going to watch any more.
No need to worry you will be led astray, we will stand behind you
It’s not that, it’s Dr. Who for Pete’s sake. Would you watch John Wayne jackknifing Dean Martin in Rio Bravo? Clint Eastwood being very good, bad and ugly with Lee Van Cleef?
One of the reasons I have never watched Brokeback mountain, I don’t need gay cowboys, just as I don’t need a gay doctor.
Sorry, maybe you dig it, but it doesn’t work for me.
I recommend this university study

Or

Sometimes cows are just not enough. Gays exist, always have done, always will… Not getting your point.
The point is you may not need gay cowboys but the reality is most were.
It is amusing how the GOP is anti-gay and cross-dressing when their history is steeped in it, cowboys, miners, sailors, and other all-male communities
What has that got to do with me watching Dr. Who?
As the mantra goes; “if you don’t like it watch something else!” I didn’t like it and watched something else. And now I‘m the bad guy if amy advertising potential went to Netflix?
Basing your decision to watch a show on the sexuality of the main character at the expense of the rest of the characters, the story, the script, etc is obviously up to you but perhaps a bit shallow, no?
I thought last night’s episode was a good watch, good plot, good characters. Also the costumes and make-up effects were outstanding.
[Was going to write more about the episode but it contained spoilers]
If you’re not obsessed with sexuality, you can usually see past it to the rest of the qualities.
The main character is “The Doctor” and he has always been male and asexual. Up until recently the Doctor has had a few moments with the companion but his sexuality has never been part of the narrative and as long as this has held there has been little or no discussion about it. The Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping angles, Sontaran and time its self, all the great storylines, all the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey stuff, the “Bad Wolf” storyline and who can forget the face of Boe?
I liked the spin-offs, the Torchwood series was a good watch for instance. Captain Jack Harkness was bi-sexual and it was not a problem, because that is part of the character from the beginning.
That is what has worked for me ever since 1963 and the first Doctor William Hartnell. If you look at the series from another point of view it has been a mirror of the Zeitgeist and a lot of fun…
So no, I do not enjoy watching a woke and gay doctor.
