New in Herrliberg

Hello everyone. We're two British guys who've just moved from London to Zurich, or more precisely Herrliberg. This forum has been an invaluable and reassuring resource over the past few weeks as we've built up to the big move -- thank you.

Welcome to Zurich. I'm in the process of moving to Zurich myself. The family is still in the french part of Switzerland.

I was looking at apartments in Herrliberg. How do you like it there?

I can answer reasonably well as I'll be moving to Herrliberg or Meilen shortly and am very often there.

It's a lovely place. Good school, very close to Zurich and you have the benefit of the S16 so more trains than some of the towns further along the lake. The Badi is nice, restaurants are nice and there is of course the fabulous Ocean Drive there.

It's pretty friendly for tax and has a good school.

Hello. We like it very much indeed. It's certainly a culture shock after living in central London, but the *very* gentle/sleepy pace suits us for now, and if we do want stimulation we can hop on an S6 or S16 from Herrliberg or Winkel and be in town in no time. (Plus, of course, there's an hourly boat to Burkliplatz.) The two Coops in Herrliberg are great for day-to-day needs, and there's an Aldi about 10 minutes away by car. The views can be spectacular, and an acquaintance tells us that there are lots of lovely walks nearby, though we've yet to explore those.

Welcome to Herrliberg! I live there too...check out the Gemeinde badi next to the Badhüsli when the weather gets nice again -- it's perfect! Will listen for British guys speaking English at the Coop and will come say hello

...and for variety there is always Migros in Erlenbach (and Denner too) ... the Coop and Denner tend to cycle their 20% off wine sales.

I take it one of you will be 'stay at home' , so if you want to grab a coffee sometime (I am in neighbouring Erlenbach) send a PM (personal message) to me.

cheers, A
