New Sky cards (for paying Sky viewers)

Quick update...I just received my new Sky viewing card via the Royal Mail forwarding service (so this works if others are relying on it). Popped it in and it was accepted within 10 seconds. Very easy.

Ours arrived this week too - the message was becoming more frequent so we were starting to panic too.

Don't forget there's a lot of "postal disruption" in the UK now and even if your area isn't on strike they can still be affected (trust me I know about postal strikes!)

Fortunately, ours came only 10 days after we first received the warning message so it was only flashing 1-2 times a day. Still, I have to admit I was a bit concerned about it.

Can I please ask, when the new Sky cards are being sent to the UK address, are they being sent by registered post or normal post ?

They were sent by normal post. There's no restriction on the envelope re forwarding, but it does ask Royal Mail to return it if it's undeliverable. You should be ok if you still have valid mail forwarding with RM. Once Sky puts your card in the post, you will see a notification on your TV that tells you it's been sent. We received the forwarded card about 10 days after we first got the notification on-screen.

Apologies for digressing on the current topic but a question to those renting out their places in the UK as I believe one address can be mapped to at most one sky account (I might be wrong): If you keep your sky account what does this mean for the tenant, can they still get sky at the same address? Do you share an account?

Thanks

If your tenant should apply for a Sky system you could have problems. I suggest that you read this thread .

I've heard many people having several subscriptions at the same address. Do a web search on this topic. As long as the name is different this should be fine.

btw, my new card arrived last Monday and was posted here and arrived Saturday.

Sky definitely do track subscriptions by address. If you try to get another subscription at the same address they’ll have to be convinced that the property has a separate apartment, and this is something that can be easily checked. See the post #34 in this thread where the OP attempted to get two subscriptions and failed.

rather than calling, it is possible to change your address on the SKY website...
