Hi there, I introduced myself on here a while back, but since have been back in the UK... now I am back long-term with my Swiss Partner, and my little girl of 5 months.
My partner and I recently moved to a small village in Les Franches Montagnes, Jura and Ive been wondering if there are any other English speakers about in the area, hence my new introduction!
A little about me.. Im 23, I met my partner whilst travelling, and kept long distance during my time at university with regular visits to Switzerland.
After I left university I fell pregnant.. and here we are in the Jura countryside starting a new path!
So, if there are any English speaking mums nearby who would like to get in touch - please do!
But also very happy to meet people without children too!!
Would be a nice idea to meet up sometime! I cant really go out in the evenings in town as Ill have my little girl with me, unless my partner is off. Do you work during the week? If youre free sometime in the week, a lunch time drink or wander round Neuchatel would be a welcome change of scenery for me and Amelia, or indeed if you fancied a change of scenery to Les Franches Montanges would be fine too!
Thanks SwissMs2000, yes its so beautiful here, especially with all the snow! I have a couple of friends and my partner here who speak English, but other than that, I think its probably better for me to learn French!
My timetable isn't set yet, so I'm working all sorts of funny hours right now! I am free at some point during the week, send me a PM if you want to grab a coffee or something
Hi Yasmina - welcome to my native Jura. Are you actually in Neuchatel Canton? We live in the Neuchatel Jura, not far from the French border. After nearly 40 years in the UK, I am back here with my (now retired) British OH, and enjoying the simplicity and peace of the mountains.
We had the most beautiful drive to La Chaux-de-Fonds via Le Locle and le Ponts-de-Martel last week. The sun was out, the sky was blue - it really was one of those days where you felt good to be alive..
I'm in the Jura Canton, but the Neuchatel canton starts just a few villages nearer to La Chaux-de-Fonds.
That's lovely to come back and enjoy the mountains, I wonder after so many years in the UK, are you in touch with people from the years you were here?
I grew up in Birmingham, but very happy to be living a more simple life here in a village! My partner is Jurassien too, and Jura is starting to feel quite homely...
Excellent! Makes me wish for summer to come soon. I stayed in Les Ponts-de-Martel a couple of years back, found it a bit of a strange village, but driving in and out is beautiful!
I am Jurassienne by 'origine' - but born in Neuchatel Canton. Yes, we now live very close to where I was born and 'bred' (to age 19) and I still know many people here - some I went to school with from age 4 to 19! Weird, but nice. Lived in London, Staffs and Leics in UK.
