Spent some years previously in CH...I taught in Luzern other things, have been in SE England for the last 10 years and have now moved back with shewhomustbeobeyed to near Zug.
As I’m too old for the traditional English pastimes of drinking myself silly,punch-up on Friday nights etc I would be grateful for any sensible suggestions of things to do and people to meet in the Oberwil, Zug , Walchwil area. If it involves watching rugby that would be a plus.
I speak fluent Swiss German, good high German and can also order pizza in Italian.
Welcome to the forum and back to Switzerland.
Welcome back. Sorry, I can't give advice on Oberwil, but there is a big expat community in Walchwil and I know there are some rugby fanatics, so lots of opportunities for watching games with like minded people. Us expats tend to congregate, in summer, at the Badi and we would more than welcome any new faces. Once you make some initial contacts you will not be stuck for things to do!
We also have an expat mens social (drinking) club, which was put on hold, for obvious reasons, but hopefully will start up again soon.
In past years we have also had summer parties and we usually have regular BBQs at our local 'spielplatz'
Feel free to message me and once the sun comes out again, I would be happy to introduce you to some of our activities and some lovely people!
Thank you Nick..very much appreciated.
Bizarrely , the weather is worse here than in England but if the sun ever decides to come out I will definitely bowl on down to the Badi in Walchwil for a look see
if kids rugby + a screaming English coach interests you then you can catch them every other weekend in Fussballstadion Allmend Herti.
