Newborn born outside Switzerland. Non EU B permit parents

Hi, I am pregnant and plan to give birth in my home country. My husband has the B permit and we have applied for my B permit also (should get it soon hopefully). Are there any challenges if I give birth in my home country for the baby to also get a permit? can I freeze my b permit as I may be outside Switzerland for more than six months for birth and recovery. Switzerland is still new for us and we don’t have family or friends there so we prefer to give birth in our home country

There will be no problems for the baby to get a permit even if you give birth outside the country if you both have a permit and fulfil the criteria for family reunification.

Staying out of the country for more than 6 months as a B permit holder on the other hand would be problematic. It’s possible to put a C permit on hold but if you are away for more than six months continuously whilst on a B permit you will no longer be considered resident here.

Could you stay in your home country until after the baby is born and your husband apply for family reunification for you and the baby at the same time once the baby is born? It may be too late for that now since he has already applied for your permit.

EU? Non-EU?

Duh, says in the thread title. Non-EU permit parents.

Apologies.
