Newborn insurance

Hello,

We are looking around for newborn insurance. The basic part is quite straightforward but getting tripped up on the supplementary parts. What company do you have your supplementary with and what all did you get?

Thank you

Hi - I took Easy Sana with Groupe Mutuel.

I spent some time with them on the phone to understand the various differences. They offer part of the supplementary free for the 1st 3 years.

Are you looking for anything specific?

get the teeth covered. if you do it from the start you can get fully insured. trying to get your teeth covered when your half grown up isnt possible here.

It is possible but you are more likely to have restrictions placed.

e.g. 3/4 of our children got full cover (post birth), but the 4th (and oldest) had restrictions based on x-ray and assessment.

Nothing specific, just wanted to get feedback from experienced people.

Yea, dental is on the list. The pay out is not 100% from what I can see.

Is the baby already born? We got a good deal from Philos/Groupe Mutuale for prenatal insurance which meant that dental plus something else that I have forgotten now, was free for the first 5 years.

Two years down the track and we have no complaints about the service.

Jenny at InSwift (you can contact her through EF, or through their website) is fantastic and will sort everything out for you - including comparing offers from a bunch of different companies....and it won't cost you any extra

No, the baby is expected in a few months.

Ah yea, I should write to Jenny, she was very helpful earlier.

Other very important advice is: Get baby insured for supplementary health insurance before he/she's born , because while congenital defects might be rare, if they do happen, you won't want them hindering your child's ability to be covered by supplementary insurance.

And check if you get a better deal via a collective Agreement with your employer

As said, the best option is to get prenatal insurance with a good selection of supplementary insurances. The company accept the risk of any problem the baby might born with. Never wait for the birth to insure. If something goes wrong with the baby the chances are you won't find a company willing to accept the risk of giving your child supplementary insurance.

The other plus of a PreNatal with Groupe Mutuel (as kiwigeek said), you'll get a couple of supplements for free for a period of 3 years (not 5). WORLD and DentairePlus2 (75% until max. 3'000). After the free period, you better upgrade the DentairePlus to the 3th level (DP3 - 75% max 15'000chf).

Good luck with everything. We're having our first baby in about 3 months
