Nightclubs in Zurich...and beyond

*backs away from flow slowly, then runs*

I am not expert in Zurich nightlife, but i like the open air bars here.

Weather is not great these days, but try these bars:

I like Rimini bar very much, i go there on weekdays mostly

I wouldn't mind going to see Gossip tonight at Kaufleuten, but they sold out at starticket, does anyone know if they sell tickets on the door?

I don't want to travel all the way to Zurich and find I can't get in.

mhm, its about nightclubs here...concert thread is the place to post this, i think. BUT: good luck!

Thanks Flow, I have been trying to find places like this and your list is the best info I've seen yet! And Abart even has a 'Britpack' night soon which could be good. Whoop whoop!

thanks for the info flow!

will defo check out loop and adagio.

hopefully one will be like Pete Tong or Judge Jules or similar.

Went to Bolero in Winterthur last Sat night 'Luxurious' "mixed party tunes" - was good setup inside, however music could have been a little louder (honestly!).

played afew of the popular recent tunes about 3 times dissapointed.

music changed style over the evening from 'dancy' to hip hop 'ish' - shame, was enjoying dancing until about 3, then decided to head home, mostly due to music style changing.

Good night though, might try a different night next time.

Jade tonight.....

...... will post thoughts tom.....

..... would be good if people posted regular updates of clubs and nights they go to?????

Jade.... Studio 91 Sat evening.

started well on the was in - security well organised which makes a change for Zurich!

Bar and decor inside looked great - well laid out with bar in the middle of the room, which meant you can order a drink from all sides - good idea. However unfort the bar staff seemed sluggish and there were only two serving/ making the drinks when the club opened - which is when most people are coming in... hence a loooong wait for a drink. When the barman eventually came over and i started to order my drink the girl who had just turned up on my left also started to order and he took her order first ... guys how many times does that happen?!?!

There were lots of little helper guys hanging around to refill the ice and collect empty glasses and they would/could not serve drinks - go figure!

Couple more serving staff at the start of the night when people are first arriving would be good idea.

Got served. Prices seemed ok - beer + 2 cocktails just over 40chf

Stood on the left side of the bar as you walk in, where the tables and sofas are. About 11pm lots of people show up for the reserved sofas and tables, it turns into a bit of a thoroughfare. But it was a good vantage point to 'check-out' the rest of the room/ladies

Music was great - tunes were great ALL NIGHT. Just unfort that (as i'm getting a little old 31 ) I couldn't hear that much when talking to people I arrived with, shame the music could not have been a little quieter on the sofa side of the bar and louder on the dancefloor side instead. But hey the music was good all night - no repeated tunes from what i can remember.

Dancing area is OK, not huge but OK.

Decent tunes and not much mixing of styles all night. Pulled out some old classics which really got the dance floor heaving - happy days

So final impressions..... GOOD - 7/10

Will for sure go back maybe in a couple of weeks and try Thursday or Friday night.

Cloak room is at far side of dancefloor - so when leaving you have to negotiate the dancefloor again after getting jackets from cloakroom. Hence don't dance in that thoroughfare. There's a back door near the cloakroom - shame they don't allow this as possible 'exit-only' when people want to leave.

Anyone know the owner and can suggest the barstaff, music and exit idea??

Next (very basic and only one mans opinion) review probably either Adagio or Loop38 next friday, followed by Poly Ball ) on sat.....

Let's have more opinions please?????

So far, in my opinion, Zurich night scene SUCKS!! There are as many party goers as Police, with GUNS!! Yikess!!

Bars are either filled with 15-16 year olds or 55-60... its either cognac and ciger or crazy Techno and House music, non stop, all night long!!!

Is there no pplace, where you can chill out, get in the mood and get going?

15-16 and 50-55? hahaha

what's wrong with u? who's taking you to those places?

there are places to chill, get in the mood and get going, and more than that..

what are u looking for? what kind of music?

I dont really mind the kind of music... as long as its not repeatitive, its good to change it sometimes... coz if you like to swing on the floor, change in music helps you rest some of the muscles, by changing the style

Dont like it too dark and too smoky (from the smoke machines).. no teenagers or wannabe gangsters... where you can go in wearing a suit and still come out looking fine

I know there probably would be.. but they would be members only kind of places, just that Im not young anymore to charm my way in such places

Have you tried these places;

1 - Talacker Bar on Talackerstrasse as a 'warm-up' bar?

2 - There's a good bar on the corner of Brunngasse/Zarhringerplatze or it could be Spitalgasse/Zarhringerplatze, I can't recall.

3 - and the last one would be errr... Casa Bar in Niederdorf - live music most evenings i think and gets pretty busy later in the evenings.

Let me know what you think after you've tried one please, always interested in opinions....

have fun

SkiRich

I see that Optimo Espacio are DJ-ing at Zukunft on Dec 18th

Anyone up for it?

It'll probably be this kind of thing:

And stuff from the Optimo label:

anyone recommend a 'chill-out' bar/club - preferably one that's busy around 4am and stays open till the early morning?

I believe I have been there before... but somehow cannot remember it clearly.

But if you use the search function of the forum, you will find some review on it .

Im going too

should be good, Otimo on the Turntables

the guy knows how to mix

Anybody know about the Adagio. This used to be around the back of the Kongresshaus. When I first came to Zürich this was one of the in places to be (or so said most of my friends) although I personally found it was heavily overrated, expensive, the staff were stuck up and stupid and the atmosphere not eally half as much fun as it pretended to be.

Any idea what became of it?

So I take it you didnt manage to pull

Why dont we check it out again this weekend?
