Nilesat?

I have checked the pinned threads but can't seem to find a mention if it's possible to receive satellite reception of Nilesat, and what's the equipment needed etc?

Any fellow Egyptians/Arabs have successfully done it?

I don't have this sat myself but I have an interest in such things. It seems folks in the uk can do it so it should be possible here as well. The dish size will need to be 1m + it seems. There is a shop in Baar which is quite good maybe they can help you out

There is some info about it here :

Be interest hwo you get on.

I think it'll be almost impossible to get a permission to install such huge dish in a balcony :/ but thanks for the info and store link. I am planing to install it in a new apartment in April and will come back and update the thread

It is often easier to ask for forgiveness than permission in this country.

with a dish size less than 180cm you will not receive anything at all. The footprint of the satellite shows very week signal-to-noise ratio in Europe.

And even if you manage to receive something (with perfect antenna alignment and weather condition), you will only receive the strongest few transponder frequencies (meaning that most of the packages that you wanna watch will not be there).

If you really wanna watch the nilesat channels, I recommend that you look into one of those IPTV boxes that are being sold.

Update:

Well, the landlord wasn't too happy about installing the dish in the garden, but drilling in the wall for the TV cable? This is a big no-no...

Now I am looking at these IPTV options but it's too expensive with these yearly subscriptions, but I guess that's the only option for now.

Thanks guys for your help and suggestions.

If you know someone in the region with a decent internet connection this might be an option.

Hi,

I have a dish and am picking up nilesat. The reception is very good except when it rains really hard. My dish is 1m and I am using a regular humax receiver. I receive all the mbc channels, fox movies, paramount etc.

if I was you, I would use a tab/pc or Chrome dongle then go to http://www.megalivestream.com/tv-live/arabic/ and watch for free!

Egypt and decent internet connections don't mix but thanks for the suggestion.

Good for you! I am doing another try with the landlord, by using one of these , I don't need to do any drilling in walls. Fingers crossed!

Many of the streams are not available and quality is really bad or audio is out of sync, but thanks for the suggestion

I use filmon.com both here in Egypt and when I am travelling in Switzerland, UK and Germany. If the speed is constantly over 2 mbps then it seems to work well. There is also an app for Ipad / Iphone. Has a wide range of UK/US and also some Arabic channels.

And its free !

I was recently in the ME and I was very impressed with the Movie & Sport channels on Nilesat.

Now, I am thinking I would like to set Nilesat up at my place in Zurich.

Can anyone share their setup (LNB, Dish and Receiver) with specifications (Brand, Type, Size and shop where they were bought...etc)

I will try to replicate the setup and receive the channels.

p.s. I thought+researched the IPTV systems and non were really upto spec.

Thanks

I ended up buying this: http://premium-it-onlineshop.de/prod...fi--wlan-.html and I can say it was well worth it, picture quality is decent and a LOT of channels are available.

But sure an actual dish will give you even higher quality. Good luck.

Thanks for your note, yes, I thought of that device also but decided I would like to have the ability of also getting other satellites (moving the dish) if and when need be plus as you mention the quality is higher with a Dish.
