I appreciate all answers (and links to any resources).
He’ll need to either get a student permit if he wants to continue to study here, find a job here or leave the country.
Edit: It’s 21 for EU, but 18 for non-EU. Not sure how that works if in a B permit at that time.
I believe the upper age limit is 25 for children admitted under family reunification.
If he continues his studies here and remains your responsibility then he will be just the same as the rest of the family.
Interesting as that seems to contradict this:
" If you come from a third country
You may bring the following family members to Switzerland:
your spouse or registered partner;
your children under the age of 18."
And also:
" Art. 4464 Spouses and children of persons with a residence permit
The foreign spouse and unmarried children under 18 of a person with a residence permit may be granted a residence permit or an extension thereof if:
a. they live with the permit holder;
b. suitable housing is available;
c. they do not depend on social assistance;
d. they are able to communicate in the national language spoken at their place of residence; and
e. the family member they are joining is not claiming supplementary benefits according to the SBA65 or would not be entitled to claim such benefits due to family reunification."

You link seems to say they can come up to the age of 25. Weird. Maybe it’s a problem with the English translation where it means children already here under family reunification are okay up to age 25. Iirc CdL dependent children are up to that age.
The topic it regulates is immigration and stay of diplomats and other privileged people (including employees of recognised supranationals), their families and their domestic(?) employees (personal employees like live-in nannies).
In short, this doesn't apply here.
