I am from a Non-EU country and have been in Switzerland for more than 5 years. So I want to investigate the possibility to get the fast-track C permit.
I have read a lot of examples of people getting the fast-track C using a study B permit for 3 years + work permit B for 2 years. However, my case is a bit special:
From 2017 Sep to 2022 January I was under a family reunification permit as my husband was doing his PhD in Geneva (he is also Non-EU). I was first not working in Switzerland until Feb 2020. In Feb 2020 I started working at a Zurich company.
In Jan 2022 my husband is graduating, thus my company applied and succeeded in getting me a work B permit (untiled, open B permit).
So to sum it up:
1) I am using a family reunification permit from Sep 2017 - Jan 2022, registered in Geneva
2) Now I am under an open B permit (untied) since Feb 2021 until now, registered in Zurich
3) I have worked for 3 years with a permanent contract
Additionally, I got every proof needed for the fast-track C, including non-criminal, non-debt, German B1 certificate, etc.
I wonder if anyone has a similar experience as me that knows whether I would be eligible to get the fast-track C permit. I went to ask the migration office but got 2 contradictory answers (one said that I have to work 5 years, the other said that 2 years would be ok...)
Would appreciate your help!
For C based on good integration you need 5 years of work (Or two years of work on B + three years of study). In conclusion, you have not every proof you need to apply for a permit C, you are missing:
Nachweis, dass die gesuchstellende Person in den letzten fünf Jahren in der Schweiz durchgehend einer Erwerbstätigkeit nachgegangen ist.

What to do? Apply anyway and see what happens. Maybe they still give you a permit C. In the worst they deny it, tell you the rules, and you keep your permit B.

Many thanks for your reply! I have also found the term that you pointed out - I think I will do what you have suggested - to apply and see whether I could have some luck this time.
I wonder if you know whether the requirements in other cantons can be different vs. Zurich. I have a friend whose wife got the C permit in Vaud in a similar situation as me.
The requirements for C permit are the same for each canton.
Naturalization rules are different.

While the rules are the same, some cantons interpret them a bit differently, more relaxed. What I can say:
No canton can be more strict than what the federal law and regulation says. If one does fulfil all the federal requirements they will get a permit C.
"Similar situations" are often not that similar, but different in one or more crucial detail which changes the whole picture.
