Have you started the procedure now? I’m in a similar situation, basically, my current B permit expires August 2024. I’m leaving my current employer as I’m not happy with my current tasks. I’ve fortunately got a permanent job offer from another company even though they knew that I’m on a non-EU on a B permit. The risky part now is that I’ve given a three months’ notice to my current employer and signed the new contract with my next employer.
Today, I received a form from them: Anfrage: Stellenwechsel möglich? To check on whether I can directly switch. I’m nervous...
Considering that I'm already in the country with a permit that is valid until August 2024, would it be easier to do this? Or not? Unfortunately my current employer has already accepted my resignation and technically speaking I have about two months to get the new work permit to start the new role. What have I done?!
Is the work permit tied to the resident permit? I mean, my current residence permit is valid until Aug 2024, but my current work contract (if I didn't resign) ends in Feb 2024.
Another question I have is that, why would I get a B permit that expires Aug 2024 the last time I renewed it even though my contract expires Feb 2024? I mean, why would the canton renew it beyond the end of my current contract?
I suppose by sending the 'Anfrage' form to AWA, they'll let me know if my permit is tied or not tied. The thing that still confuses me is why would they give me the additional six months knowing that my contract ends in Feb 2024? Shouldn't it simply match the contract?
So, I learn a hard truth today that my B permit is indeed tied to my employer that I would need to submit an application to AWA to change job and that the admission requirements for third-country nationals (including priority nationals) apply
I wonder how long this takes as I have tendered my resignation and if I get to start the new role in about two months
Following this thread as I’m also Non-EU with a B-Permit and gauging my ability to switch jobs. I was first under the impression that I cannot, but I’ve had both Cantons (where I live and work) verbally tell me that I should have no problems switching.
What does your Stellenantritt/Einverstandnis say? Does it have an end date? The sections regarding Zulassungscode, Bedingungen, Bermerkungen are particularly useful as it should list restrictions. Is your employer/company name also printed on the back of your B-permit?
Regardless, if you were granted a B-Permit once, you should be able to fulfill the requirements again - especially since you have an employer already willing to sponsor you and a valid B-Permit.
I had a chat on the phone with AWA a couple of months ago before thinking of looking for a new job and they told me that I should be able to switch employer, they told me that I need to supply some documents and the process will take 4-6 weeks depending on their workload.
For that reason, two months ago, I started applying for jobs aggressively and fortunately enough got a couple of offers at the end of June.
Yes, it does have an end date 31.08.2024. But I can't see any Zulassungscode, under Anmerkungen, it simply says 'Berechtigt zur Erwerbstaetigkeit', at the back under Anmerkungen, it says 'Selbst. Erwerbstaetigkeit ist bewillungspflichtig' and no, my employer's name is not on the back of the B permit.
My new employer is looking to apply for the new work permit for me, but I'm just afraid that the whole process is gonna take longer than two months, which would mean that I will be unemployed for a bit
The Stellenantritt/Einverstandnis is a separate document (A4 Paper) that your employer would have received which outlines your permit conditions/restrictions. All the information I mentioned above would there (and not on your physical card).
We hire third country nationals, and it depends on the workload the cantonal office. The fastest I've seen (Zurich) is around 7 weeks or so (not including the 3-6 months before where we had a job opening public without suitable applicants).
The slowest was nearly a year, where they didn't accept our job posting and we had to restart the process from scratch.
I see. I'm based in Zurich, hopefully they would get it sorted with seven weeks, because in theory, I do only have seven weeks before I am scheduled to start
