Hi. I currently have a non EU Permit B. My partner of 17yrs has just moved to Zurich with an EU Permit B. We are a same sex couple, and plan to get married in Jan 23. My role will be eliminated in Feb 23, and I will be separated from my company after 35yrs. My GE issued Permit B will be cancelled in March23. I hope to have an EU dependent Permit B issued about the same time my GE Permit B is cancelled. Will I be able to register for chômage in Zurich in April?
You will need to apply before you job finishes - not in April, permit expiry or not. Explain to them your circumstances/plans and it shouldn’t be a problem.
If you’ve been working in Switzerland for 35 years you should have an open B permit anyway so renewing it shouldn’t be a problem. Just apply for a renewal same as normal.
