Norwegian citizen moving to Switzerland - visa and health insurance?

hey everyone, quick question

ive read that health insurance is compulsory when living in switzerland, with the price ranging from 200-700 chf

is this correct?

i work online, so im assuming i dont need a work permit/that type of visa

just to stay in switzerland for 1 year or more, what visa do i need? whats the cost to get the visa? how long does it take to process?

are there other "compulsory costs" except health insurance when living in switzerland?

what happens if i dont pay for health insurance?

If you manage to not pay for long enough you'll eventually be kicked out of the country with a debt.

You need to check up and understand the rules for FMOP - you do require a permit and you are entitled to come to Switzerland to take up employment or establish a business. It will be up to the authorities as to whether your online work meets the requirements.

If you reside in Switzerland and work without a permit that is not allowed. If you get a permit and you don’t pay your health insurance the canton automatically registers you to a company and sends you the bill.

In Switzerland, a visa is only used for entry to the country. Once here, you register with the local authorities and request a residence permit .

If you are an EU citizen, you don't need a visa in order to enter the country, but you still have to register with the local authorities and take out Swiss health insurance. If you don't prove you have insurance, then the municipality will assign you one and it may or may not be the cheapest. Better to choose your own. Often for your apartment lease you also have to prove you have liability insurance.

If you are not an EU citizen, you either need to be independently wealthy (think millions) or your employer needs to request a work permit for you in order for you to move here. The employer must prove they can't find a Swiss or EU citizen who can do the job. Once the permit is approved, the type D visa is stamped in your passport at the embassy there in Norway. The type D visa allows you to enter Switzerland and stay here for more than 90 days.

It doesn't matter if you currently live in Norway. It's your nationality that counts for permits, not your current residence.
