If you don't know what NyQuil is, it is the night time, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever, knock you out so you can fight your cold unconscious, death green medicine.
Thank you

Medinite works well - although for me, not quite as well.
Medinite and NyQuil are the same exact thing and the same brand and have the same active ingridients for caugh supression, antihistamine, and pain reliever/ fever reducer acetaminophen which in Europe is called paracetamol.
Additionally Medinite also contains pseudoephedrine which is a decongestant which makes Medinite the equivalent to the new NYQUIL SINEX
Hope you feel better! get well soon!
.
Thank you for everyone's help.
I discovered this last night after taking it for a gnarly flu without reading the bottle, that there is a stimulant in MediNite which made me anxious and nervous. So I layed in bed for hours upon hours staring at the ceiling, wishing my sick body could just fall asleep for god's sake. It was awful.
The difference between DayQuil and NyQuil is that DayQuil has the stimulant and NyQuil does not; instead, it has a (sedating) antihistamine.
So to me, MediNite is analogous to 'DayQuil' with its stimulant.
And I have not found a NyQuil analog.
I, too, am stocking up on my next trip to California.
1 dose Medinite contains: Paracetamol 600 mg Doxylamine 5.22 mg Ephedrine 6.17 mg Dextromethorphan 11 mg
1 dose Nytol contains Paracetamol 325mg Dextromethorphan 15mg Doxylamine succinate 6.25mg
1 dose Nytol Sinex contains Paracetamol 325 mg Doxylamine Succinate 6.25 mg Phenylephrine 5 mg
1 dose Dayquil contains Paracetamol 325 mg Dextromethorphan 10 mg Phenylephrine 5 mg
Remember - enjoy your drugs responsibly.
As mentioned above, all these meds should be avoided or used with caution if you take any antidepressants or have anxiety or any other mood disorders....
The meds don't shorten your illness, they just mask the symptoms. You may feel temporarily better, but your body is still fighting the infection.
And please watch out for Influenza, Covid, Pneumonia - I have two swiss friends who are really unwell right now - one with covid, one with pneumonia (most likely influenza virus). If you have any breathing difficulties, see your doctor please!
*works fine when squirted directly into your nose but not when it passes through your digestive system
Thank you! Ha! My (Swiss) wife said the same thing and is currently en route to the apotheka to pick up some. She says the NeoCitran absolutely knocks her out, so perhaps this will become my NyQuil replacement, and I already have the MediNite to use for my DayQuil replacement.
COVID test was negative but this is day 6 of being sick. Not fun. Be careful out there!
Eventually less stores will carry it and presumably the price will rise since the scale factor is not as good for the manufacturing. (and leading to more stores removing it)
I like it since it helps me sleep deeply and I do feel better in the morning at times. How much of this is medicine and how much is it my body being able to self-heal due to good sleep is not clear.
I found on my last trip to CVS, very few medicines were available that have pseudoephedrine
NyQuil Liquicaps:
Acetaminophen 325 mg Pain reliever/ fever reducer
Dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg Cough suppressant
Doxylamine succinate 6.25 mg Antihistamine
I think MediNite also has (or once had) a day/night version where half the pills in the box contain the stimulant and the other half doesn't. So the pills are marked as being either for day or for night. I think it was Medinite, at least, but I can't seem to remember. But yeah, I can't take any cold meds with a stimulant in it or I'll be unable to sleep that night. I remember taking some cold medicine like that years ago, that I had bought at the apotheke here, and I literally was up for 2-3 days because of it. It just didn't want to get out of my system.
