Anyone ever rented through OK Logements in Lausanne? Am trying to secure a place, but am doing so from abroad, so just trying to see if anyone has any experience with them.
I was put into one of their studio apartments (Rue Du Valentin) which was pretty tiny compared to the cost but it was just a temporary thing until I got my own apartment.
Overall their service was fine and things were looked after with a reasonable quality.
If you have any specific questions feel free to drop me a pm.
Thanks for you reply. I'll be moving to Lausanne from abroad so need just a 1 or 2 month rental so I can find a place of my own for the long-term. Seems like they are one of the few places that will offer such a service that isn't well over 2000chf or a tiny studio.
Perhaps I should have included this in my original post, but are there any suggestions for companies that offer short term rentals that will hold a room before you actually arrive in Switzerland, with payment of course?
Is OK LOgements a trustworthy company? I will soon send them 5600 of hard earned CHF and I would like to know if anyone ever had any problems with reclaiming a deposit after leaving the apartment? I thought that deposit should be paid to and escrow-type account but instead they want us to pay it to the same account as the rent amount. Can anyone advise me if this is a standard practise or should I ask for a different account for the deposit?
I would find that massively dodgy. I don't know the company at all, but it's pretty unusual considering that even existing tenants that sub-let to people set up an escrow. You would think a property company would do it automatically.
Agree with Sandgrounder. Deposit should be held in a totally separate account that has both your name and the landlord's. You might have trouble later if you just fork over money.
Have you actually seen the place, or is this possibly one of those scams where they ask you to send a deposit and they will mail you the keys...
I stayed with them last summer when I moved here. It's the same account because it isn't like a regular deposit. I had no problems at all getting the deposit back when I left, it was in my bank account within 1 week of me leaving. Checkout took 30 seconds, they just make sure the place looks ok.
Basically their apartments are incredibly expensive, but everything is quite smooth. I had a problem and it was fixed the next day. They also had no problem with me subletting when I found another place for less. Even accommodated me in this.
Thanks. I feel better now. It is stupidly expensive but they are the best in the short -term contracts as they make no problems at all to rent it for one month. I just hope I will be able to find something for longer in one month time
