I prefer the American ones but show us what you got.

Ill start, My father has a 1981 RR silver spirit. Im working on getting one but finances are not there just yet....and I do not feel like buying a junker.

I'm seriously debating getting either a Volks or a Pontiac.

The latter is probably my dream car:

The former was my first ever car - this model, this colour, sadly not in this good condition...

Pontiac all the way!!

True. I almost managed to get a near-mint condition 1970 Firebird while I was living in Devon - I went to look and it was a beauty - when I went back with the deposit, the guy had doubled the price. A$$hole.

..lol, just looking at both cars, this is a no brainer.

When I was a little tyke, my father used to drive a '68 Chevelle convertible... similar to this one (the interior was black though):

He bought it when he came home from Vietnam and must have had it until I was about 5'ish. He gave it to his father and got a 6-passenger pickup just before we moved to the desert. If I remember right though, his younger sis was given it for her 16th birthday.

I remember getting sooooo sick in that car. The black interior coupled with the fact that both of my parents smoked back then AND that I had a hard time breathing with that much wind in my face... bleh. Rainy days were the worst.

Some reason, I really love muscle cars from around that time. This site is a bit drool-worthy.

Here's a picture of my 1968 big block Corvette.

Sadly I sold my car before I moved to Switzerland as I was afraid it would be too difficult to import. But I miss it, and I'm trying to work out how difficult it would be to import another one from the States and get it legalised over here. If anyone can share their experiences, let me know...

my sister has a straight 6 1964 Ford Mustang , red with white roof

you can buy these here easy, there is a dealer specialised in these somewhere on the west side of lake Zuri

I'm sure I can buy one here in Switzerland, but looking at the prices it would be cheaper to have one made of pure gold.

I'm over in the US pretty frequently and I know enough that I'm confident of buying a good car. I would much prefer to buy one in the US and import it myself -- better selection and a lot less $$$. For example, here are two cars which are virtually identical:

Swiss Version, CHF 60K

American Version, USD 30K

Okay, I'll have to pay $1000 to ship it, ~20% in duty / VAT, and probably a few thousand CHFs to get it through it's MFK, but it'll still end up being CHF20k cheaper than buying it here in Switzerland. And 20K buys a lot of petrol...

Sir, please stop posting such obscene pictures while I'm at work. I cannot seem to focus anymore.

I, as an avid car lover do not think that they should produce cars with a smaller engine than a 3.0l V-6...and there should be a law which states that one can and is encouraged to publicly whip those whom tune or enrouage the tuning of a 4 and 5 cylinder engine.

Peg, I didn't know that you were into cars.

The Corvette was 7.4 litres of fun. Fuel consumption was less fun, at 26l/100km (on a good day).

...well, who cares about such little detail. Now that this volcanic ash is dropping the average temperature by a couple of degrees we as responsible car lovers need to assume responsibilities of balancing out the earth and produce some more greenhouse gases in order not to freeze to death.

It's something I tamp down a bit.

My father and brothers were never into cars, when I mentioned an interest in auto shop in school my parents looked at me like they were unsure if I wanted to take it just to hang with boys or (maybe and / or) if they should expect me to bring a girlfriend home soon...

I dropped the subject.

The summer before I move to Florida I almost got my hands on a 73 Malibu for only $800 but unfortunately, the "impact fees" for bringing a car into Florida (combined with having to foot all of my other moving costs myself) made it impossible for me.

Wow, a 73 Malibu!!!

I want more pics!!!!!!

I used to own a red Volvo P1800 which I loved.

....wow, a Volvo

he he he - that is very funny!!! I didn't even think of the irony, tho that was a very cool sports car ...
