I used englishforum.ch a lot and learnt about this site following its closure.
I’ve lived in Switzerland since '88, and hold both Irish and Swiss nationalities.
I like sharing my experiences and helping others.

Why is everyone asking that question? Its the 3rd google result when one types in “swiss forum”. The first two are irrelevant as they are different “forums” and this is actually the first meaningful result

Most people looking for the English Forum don’t typically type Swiss Forum into Google though, I think that’s why people are asking.

Yeah, ok, fair. Just tried “new english forum Switzerland” and a bunch of cached EF links popped up, all of them invalid and Swissforum.co.uk was further down

I just learned on reddit that the Englishforum was closed and that this here is the new resource. Thanks to the creators of this forum and to the always helpful contributors 
Whenever I had English speaking visitors I would send them to Englishforum. Glad I know where to send them now

Welcome to the new site. 
I was quiet often rebounded from the EF 
In earlier days I posted occasionally on the English Forum. Didn’t know it closed until today. My name there was “Spalebärg” but now have changed it slightly to “Spalenberg”. I originally came to Basel in 1976 and have lived permanently in the region since 1980 and now am a Swiss citizen in addition to my UK nationality. Most probably will stay here as a retired person where I feel more at home now than if I was back in the UK.

By the way, is it just me or does anybody else automatically put an “E” in the searchbar expecting Englishforum to magically appear?
I did for a while then got used to putting ‘sw’ in.
From time to time I put E in the bar.

Our friends at TheLocal.ch got englishforum.ch for free, hosted it for free, and now they decided finito. Someone me, you, us? Could ask for it back, have a nice landing page on englishforum.ch, a bit of history: “englishforum.ch is nolonger, local news is here, swissforum is where it is at now! So long Englishforum.ch and thanks for all the fish.”
I guess someone has tried that.
Thanks Phil for this site. Bl**dy hell well done!, I hope you are getting better! Well done whoever archived it all! Has anyone got a copy of my old icon? This all caught me somewhat off guard!

I am enjoying the way this site is developing, there is a lot of the old EF vibe here and even though we argue and bitch and slag each other off, I still believe that we like one another enough to make this a home for years to come.

Hello! I recently learnt that the old EF website doesn’t work and found out about this knee site on Reddit.
So just to introduce myself I moved to Switzerland from the U.K. two years ago and the old forum was invaluable for sharing experience and tips. I moved to Zug for work purposes.
Thank you for setting up this site now. I look forward to contributing by perhaps someone else with what I’ve learnt since moving here.
