One-hole hole punch

I've been looking for a one-hole hole punch for a little project of mine.

I can't find a single one for sale in all of Switzerland. I can find one on amazon.de and amazon.fr (for stratospheric prices), but they just won't deliver to Switzerland!

EF people, can you help? If you have an old one lying about that you want to get rid of, can I buy it from you? I'll pay up to 5 CHF for it.

It looks something like this:

Otherwise, if you have any ideas how I can get my hands on one for a reasonable price (these things cost less than 2 USD at Staples), let me know!

Maybe I've watched too much MacGyver when I was younger...but could you technically not just use one piercing pin/stick thingy from a regular hole puncher?

Are you qualified to use it? It takes a four year apprenticeship to stamp holes in things here, are you trying to undermine the professionalism of the tradespersons?

Swiss army knife corkscrew?

You mean a Lochzange like this ?

Depending on the material and hole size you want to use it on you might want a Revolver-Lochzange

You need a Lochstanzer https://www.google.ch/search?hl=en&s...&sa=1&tbm=isch

have you tried this shop, downstairs, near Gotthard Cinema,

Bastelzentrum Crea AG

No, I cannot. I want to use it to punch a perfect neat hole in a CURVED ALUMINUM CAN and the 2 hole punch won't fit the can inside. I need exactly what I asked for, a thing that looks similar to the picture I posted.

Sometimes, what appears obvious isn't.

Alrighty then...(some people seem to be overly particular about the perfect hole )

Thanks for clarifying!

Thx Sbrinz and 11 hours.

I knew what the thing was called (thx google translate) but google kept pointing me to German (from Germany) sites and Amazon.

Thanks for the concrete suggestions of shops that actually carry them. I'll try Junghanswolle and see if they deliver for a reasonable cost (uh oh...forget it, their sending costs bring the price of the item up to 12 CHF...for real? Uuurgh. I guess I'll try Bastellzentrum Crea next).

If you've seen them anywhere else let me know!

You would need something stronger than a paper punch. Are you able to drill holes? But it is difficult drilling holes in thin soft metal !

The leather hole punches might work for a few holes: you place the Stanze over the metal, which is supported underneath by a strong piece of wood, and hit it once with a large hammer.

Or this might work, http://www.ebay.de/itm/Stechahle-Ahle-Stichel-zum-Vorstecher-Sattlerahle-Sattler-Lederwerkzeug-NEU-/130920152376

.

Use one of these - what anorexics use when their belt runs out of holes.

You even get to choose a thinny or a fatty.

Hmm...then it gets complicated finding a piece of wood that you can insert in a curved can in a stable manner (it would have to be curved!)

The hole punch will do for my cans. I ran a test on the top of the can after I peeled it off with a can opener and put it, just like lostinbroad said, in the one puncher of a two-hole paper punch (I could do this because the top was flat, unlike the rest of the can, obviously). Punched perfectly fine. Ergo...the lochzange should work fine on the rest of the can.

I tried drilling a hole indeed but my powertool skates all over the metal even with a starter hole and is not fast enough. It was a mess and I almost chopped my finger off because I wasn't holding my test top of the can with gloves and it started rotating (cutting my finger) as soon as the bit went through--result: a hole that wasn't round and a copiously bleeding finger). Live and learn (I was lucky). So either the lochzange or a drill press, but I don't have access to a drill press because my company doesn't have a machine shop.

So there you go. Complicated, huh? Would've been solved by 5 minutes at the corner office store in the US. OfficeMax in Switzerland doesn't carry these, only the spiffy multi-hole ones.

Folks, please understand, I'm not asking for solutions on WHAT TO USE.

I *know* what I want to use. I want to use a single hole punch just like the one I pictured. A standard, 5mm punch for paper that you can pick for 2 dollars at any common US office store. But in Switzerland. For a reasonable price.

I'm looking for suggestions on WHERE TO BUY IT.

Thanks.

I'm just amazed to see what this country makes out of people's fully functional DIY brains subject to Alpine comfort ... Just go to large DE hardware across the border and they will definitely point you to one for few bucks. Think of other tools and supplies as well just to make it worth a single trip

Better idea, why just one hole? Go to nearby shooting range and they will perforate it

for SFr 7,90 a set of 9 hole punches,

for the wood, buy a fence post in the Migros garden center.

You're in Bern, right? Have you looked in the Loeb downtown. the top floor is all sorts of craft stuff. And there's another floor with stationery and stuff.

On the Laengasse, there is a big stationers, Buerki. And then there's a store with all sorts of painting stuff - the street parallel to the one where the Stauffacher is located..coult it be Aareberg?

W.H.Smith, Home Depot, Staples.

Heh heh...I then gotta think what to do with a single fence post. I guess I'll carry it around when I walk around the street in case a boy tries to get fresh. ;P

You could use it at Carnival time, put it between your legs and say you are sitting on the fence, undecided? Or give it to a farmer...

One-hole punch ......... isn't that called fisting ?

I have bid on this, I will lend you the set next week...
