7. Don't jump on a thread and insult a person out of the blue because you hold a grudge against them. And don't go on pretending that the only reason you did was because you were stating your point of view. It is pretty clear you do such stuff out of jealousy. People here are not dumb. Stop being jealous. Grow up and grow a pair of tits.
p.s. I won't be leaving this forum anytime soon so get used to it.
I wasn't referring to myself but just throwing an example out there.
It's like this in my book: I respect individuals who show respect for other people.
If someone is nasty and rude to other people in this forum, whether they are a Mod or an Admin or the freaking president of country X, I don't give a flying .... as to who they are, they get no love from me.
I am skeptical about the idea that non-native speakers might misinterpret things posted on this forum, they definitely do not sound like they misinterpret things when they hurl insults on the threads. So I am not sure if I buy that.
EDIT: I have reached my daily posting quota.
Not wishing to add fuel to the fire but I think I know who you are referring to and, if I am right, then I have to albeit reluctantly agree with you. I've noticed this pattern of behaviour from a certain EFer as well for some time now and who, in all honesty, really ought to know way better given who they are...
It's like waving a gossip candy in front of the baby and then snigger "no, you can't have it!"
So, did I understand correctly someone got offended with poetry?
I don't really care about the groans, though the red bloobies on an user usually make me wary of helping said user (because I usually feel I am being trolled, and unfortunately it's usually correct).
But name calling is a no-no. I had some name calling a while back. It does make the forum using a bit dirty...
Now, where did I leave the champagne left-overs... Oh lookie! Chocolate X-Mas cake!
... and now that I've seen what Isha, who I respect a lot, has replied to this topic, I'm not sure wheather it might be justified or not... however I hope the people involved in this, don't carry the stuff too heavy in their hearts.
(and this is what I call "helpless non-native English"! Merry christmas everyone!
As a resent newbie to E.F this thread and its topic actually surprises me !!
There seem to be a open forum where anyone can post their opinions and thoughts, whilst you can expect other members to join in ,respond or reply in just the same open fashion.
Having read lots of threads over the past few months , this leads mostly to a quite informative dialogue, at times some heated debate and often with silly(read funny) or open hearted comments.
In fact I found the feel and tone of EF to be quite unique, people seem to be
mostly helpful open and quite funny, in short, EF members comes across as genuine people.
There might have been a comment here or there, that perhaps -in my opinion -was not best placed, however, it goes with the territory of posting something in an on-line forum.
I have read thread runaways, where the mods have kept the threads running or even part-taken in banter, but the value of the thread have not been devalued in any way, it have been quite entertaining reading.
Personally I would be sad to see EF as a more "controlled and restrictive" environment where openness might be lost and a bit of banter is limited, or even restricted by the moderators.
You all seem like a great bunch, and it is a pleasure to be here on EF.
Hope you all had a great x mas and look forward to a great beginning in 2012.
Moderator action is often not visible. It might be a PM to the offender to pack it in or be banned for a while.
Cheers

As a Mod I've seen a couple of cases in the past where a member was actually being stalked (in real life) by another from the forum. It was a real mess, not something that can be easily dealt with and there was very little if anything the Mods could do to help. The victim eventually had to cease posting on the forum entirely in a bid to regain control of their private life.
There is outright abuse and there is subtle abuse. If a poster has been unfairly treated by another poster again and again, it's abuse as well.
That's why I posted a suggested list of guidelines. As a mod, what do you think?
