Online shops abroad that calculate all fees upfront.

Here's a thread following on from The Next.co.uk thread where people can provide links to online shops that do calculate all the taxes, shipping, etc etc at checkout so the amount you pay is the final amount and you don't get surprised with a massive bill of extras upon delivery.

These extras include:

Swiss VAT of 8% or 2.5% Customs admin duties Shipping fees Shipping admin fees Packaging costs Implausible fees with no rhyme nor reason

We want to know about companies where what you pay at checkout on their website is the final amount.

If you have used a company, then please give the link and a brief description of what they sell.

First two:

Next

Next, a UK-based company sells middle of the range clothing for adults and children and it sells homeware too.

Prices are in Swiss Francs. Language can be set to English.

Musik-Produktiv

A German company selling both electric and acoustic guitars and other instruments and accessories.

Prices cheaper than Switzerland.

www.amazon.co.uk

Second this. I usually find that prices on amazon and almost equivalent if not cheaper than others. Saves me the hassle by shopping on one site only.

Don't forget that the Swiss customs charges a flat fee AND import duties on any shipment with a value over 80 CHF (I think it is 80 the check seems to be random). I order a lot of antique car parts, mostly from the UK, so I always ask that the supplier only sends the order as a single shipment, as the flat 30CHF handling fees add up VERY quickly. I estimate that for the car I am currently restoring (a 1968 Jaguar S-Type) about 20% of my total parts costs are shipping and customs fees.

.co.uk have never done the up-front tax for me, though .com do.

The point the OP is making is that some companies will calculate the taxes and charge you them to start, then the goods are imported with the tax paid and you avoid the extra admin charges.

Anyway;

A slightly higher end UK department store. They deduct UK VAT and pre-pay the Swiss MwSt.

Now THAT is a smart online store.

The German online store D-Edition (for all your Radio Control Model needs).

Once you register with a Swiss address, all the prices displayed on the site are without VAT, and when they send the goods they use DHL Worldwide Prime so you only pay the Swiss VAT, no other fees.

amazon.de (for stuff sold by them)

rose.de - bikes and components

Any of the US vendors using borderfree.

Land's End, department stores like Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks and undoubtedly others.

The good thing is that the delivery is fast, and you can pay Swiss tax and duty when you check out. The annoying thing is that the DHL express charges seem awfully high. I bought about $130 of merchandise and paid $60 to ship. because it was all on sale i still saved money. Occassionally borderfree has shipping deals.
