Open doors in Bern's federal building this weekend - 175 Years Constitution Jubilee

Switzerland celebrates 175 Years Federal Constitution this weekend, July 1st and 2nd.

  • Saturday and Sunday, from 9-18, certain federal buildings are open for the public
  • location: Bundesgasse, Bern
  • visitors aged 16 and older need an offical ID and pass security checks similar to those at an airport
  • there’s various entertaining stuff, like crossbow shooting the children (hehe, for them of course), K-9 shows, etc

The fountains are operating, using them to cool down is invited. Remember to bring appropriate wear.

Return train tickets to Berne cost 17.50 with Halbtax.

  • the Swiss National Bank
  • Bundeshaus West, including the parliament’s two halls, the federal council’s meeting room
  • Bundeshaus Ost, it houses 4 of the 7 Departments
  • Parlamentsgebäude, the parliament’s building
  • Bundeshaus Nord
  • Bundeshaus Inselgasse, seat of the Department of the Interior
  • Berner Rathaus, the Canton’s seat of parliament and executive
    etc
