Open source or free MS outlook client

I want to migrate away from MS-Office suite. I only use the base (word, excel, PP, outlook) mostly.

I’m considering LibreOffice, WPS Office, OpenOffice, etc …

However, have not been able to locate a mail client that can open outlook .pst files without conversion/additional step (thunderbird requires ‘cconversion’).

Would really be interested in a mail client that does pop/IMAP and can read outlook .pst files.

TIA!

I’m looking at eM client … looks promising …

There is this tool which enables importing PST files directly into Office 365, Yahoo, Hotmail, Zoho, and iCloud accounts. If you have a Google Workspace account you can try the GWMMO tool (disclaimer: I haven’t use them)

Also worth mentioning a couple of office alternatives:
Proton has a web email and email client. Also building an office suite, I think it’s only available for premium users for now.

Disroot is a great office replacement with strong focus on privacy.

@SoSwiss. Thank you so very much for the details!

My bad, I should have indicated that I’m not looking for any sort of cloud storage solution. There is now a free MS outlook client (outside MS365) which is free, but it requires MS 1-drive/MS cloud storage.

As a rule, I dont put my files and info on cloud storage services, even if free.

You can import directly from Outlook to Thunderbird.

I moved a few years ago from Outlook Express when it was discontinued a few years ago and as far as I can remember, it was a painless transition.

As far as other office tools are concerned, I’ve tried a few but they just aren’t as good as MS Office and I’ve got a lot of macros and VB running behind Excel so that was a bit of a no-go and I’ve stuck with MS office.
