I'd like to know if Opfikon is a good residential area.
I am intending to get a place there but unsure if it is a good buy.
Can anyone share some info or advise?

Lots and lots of building of faceless apartment blocks going on up near the Glattbrugg motorway turnoff. It's a dull lifeless area, and I wouldn't live there. beyond its proximity to the motorway and UBS IB, and some other industrials I wouldn't.

The planes are noisy too - especially the Korean Air cargo planes
I lived there for over a year before moving to Kloten. I would have to say that the area is okay to live in if you are willing to overlook a few problems. First, the noise from the airplanes. I live in Kloten now and although its closer to the Airport, the noise level is actually lesser. Opfikon was borderline unbearable. Connectivity is quite nice to HB and the Airport. However, you will have to rely on Oerlikon , HB or Airport for any major shopping. Small coops are around but they are just good for basic groceries. So, unless you work in or close to Opfikon and dont want to travel too much, there are better areas to live in.
