Opinions on KPT, Swica, or Concordia?

I was wondering if there was anyone using one of these companies who might want to share their experiences...

Do any of them have a dental option? Any idea on costs?

Thanks in advance.

Have a look at comparis.ch .

You can switch the site to English and get quotes, customer ratings and other information for health insurance, car insurance etc etc.

Basic cover is identical with every single company in Switzerland so really, you should be looking at the differences between these companies for

i) basic cover

ii) the cover offered by their respective supplementary products and cost

comparis will give you an idea of prices for basic.

However, for supplementary, they don't explain in detail what each company offers.

It depends on where you'll be living and your age but, Swica are often considered quite expensive...

KPT/CPT are ok. Probably not the cheapest for basic (again depending on factors mentioned above).

I don't see many Concordia policies though they are quite competitive if you're living in Valais (Wallis) I seem to remember. Again, they're probably not the cheapest though.

Every company offers dental cover. Some are better than others. And most are horribly expensive.

Orthodontic cover is not necessarily covered under dental so double-check before taking dental out if you're looking specifically for orthodontics

I did look at Comparis, however the "Visitors' experiences" are all in German... that's why I was asking in this forum for English...

Any ideas on where I can find dental plan prices? Comparis doesn't seem to offer dental plans.

I live in Zurich and I use Swica. I pay 350 chf per month and for that I got the Best Med insurance card. If Im in a foreign country and I need a doctor, I can go to any doctor and any hospital in the world. I also have a great domestic plan which Im too lazy to go look up at the moment.

When I lived in Horgen I was paying 316/month so your geography def does affect the premium.

Hello Everybody.

I have quite a few experiences with KPT and they are all NOT pleasant....

1. Service quality - to get something done you wait for them 2 months on average. After numerous telephones, redirections, emails there is nobody there to handle your request !

2. Useless insurances - i had a complementary insurance and it turned out it was totally useless. They refuse to reimburse you for the things that they are selling.

Summing up, waste of time, money and nerves. Absolutely NOT recommended.

Moreover, KPT was sanctioned by FINMA for breaches of duty....

Worth joining the forum just to get your negative experience heard?

Well, I'm with KPT, and never had a problem - in fact, they've paid for eye laser treatment, for which they're not obligated to do so (I won't even mention the private medical care in the UK).

I've been in conflict with CPT/KPT for over 18 months. It all started when they suddenly decided that my family doctor wasn't one, when their policy states black on white that any generalist can be considered as a family doctor.

9 months later their legal department conceded they were wrong and promised to fix everything. 9 months after that I'm still after them and the matter is in the hands of my "protection juridique".

The staff are arrogant and rude, don't respond to letters (even from my lawyer) or when they do it's through "commandement à payer", which have to be contested. They lie, can't read, can't do basic arithmetic (for them 10 % of 199.50 CHF = 9.75 CHF!). The only letters that get any response are those that go to the CEO.

Just as a remark, all my letters to them have been courteous and factual, which hasn't stopped them being rude and arrogant.

I have had both KPT and SWICA and can give the following comments:

SWICA is slightly more expensive, but contact with them has been more pleasant, and they seem to be willing to actually help you where possible.

KPT is slightly cheaper, but contact with them is more difficult. They seem a little more rude, and unwilling to help. Also, contact with KPT is done mainly via their secure website login (like e-banking), which is kind of a hassle, and the server seems to be down often as well.

I have KPT at the moment, and will probably switch back to SWICA next year.

How did you manage that? I have KPT and was considering eye laser surgery, but didn't ask them if they would pay because I didn't think they would (?)
