Order Kindle from Amazon.de - costs?

Amazon.de has a good deal on the latest Kindle Paperwhite right now (30 EUR off) so the total including their estimated import fees and shipping would be around 97 EUR.

Would the estimated import fee be the only thing i pay to import it or could there be other things like taxes or whatever?

Has anyone ordered a Kindle from amazon.de?

Here is the deal btw:

http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00C...pf_rd_i=301128

Valid until 14 april.

What do you mean by 'estimated import fee' ? Does Amazon.de quote you this amount?

I dont believe they will even ship it to CH. The last time I ordered a Kindle from amazon.de, I used one of these services:

www.lieferadresse-deutschland.org

I ordered my Kindle from amazon.com; I couldn't even order it from amazon.co.uk.

I'm seriously considering a Paperwhite, so I'll look into this.

Yes, they will deliver to Switzerland. I just went ahead and bloody ordered one, didn't I?

Thanks for the heads-up.

Good for you mate! I might just go ahead and do the same. They can add anything they want up to 30 CHF later and it would still be cheaper than here.

They will not add anything else, may even reimburse you

They have a new "global shipping schweiz" since a couple of months and ship loads more to CH.

Sometimes they reimburse you small amounts (I never understood why maybe exchange rate or so)

Anyway, enjoy it

Well that settles it then - Kindle Paperwhite it is! Cheers!

I got my Kindle Paperwhite yesterday, with the special offer.

This is what it says on the shipping label:

Digital Text Item.........80.13 Euro

Freight and insurance....4.91 Euro

Total value..................85.04 Euro

That's it.

I just hope my husband isn't reading this thread. It's for his birthday

Edit: I ordered it from Amazon.de

Hang on a second here. You only paid 85 EUR for it??

Ordered a normal Kindle (49 Euro) earlier this week. Amazon charge an up front fee for the maximum estimated tax bill and presumably the refund is if it works out less than this.

I believe the reason it's cheaper when you receive the invoice than the list price is that the price on amazon.de includes German MWST (19%?) so the total works out less even when the Swiss customs charge is included.

Hope that helps,

Broon.

No, you are right. I paid this:

Zwischensumme: EUR 108,40

Verpackung und Versand: EUR 6,64

Werbeaktion: -EUR 30,00

Vorauszahlung der Importgebühr: EUR 9,46

Endbetrag: EUR 94,50

Zahlung über Mastercard: EUR 94,50

I have no idea why the put those numbers on the shipping label.

Edit: to tell you the truth, I haven't checked my bank account, so I couldn't swear to either

They put on the custom form the price of item+shipping (they will not include the Importgenbuhr or you would pay tax on the tax) so should be 94.50-9.46

Ciao

Ah, that explains it. Thanks.

I just went ahead and ordered one now. No more awkward book holding next to the fat guy on the crowded commute!

I recently ordered some baby furniture on amazon.de, and they applied their new (very useful!) policy and estimated the customs costs and added it to my bill.

About 6 weeks laters, I got an email from Amazon saying the customs costs had been over-estimated, and about half of it got paid back to my credit card.

On a side note, it's nice that you can now order Kindles from Germany. When I bought mine 2 years ago they made me order from amazon.com

Yes this is very handy. I have never dared order anything over 60CHF (the limit for paying import fees) since i didnt know exacly what i would be charged. Ive had bad exprience ordering stuff from china with tons of taxes plus 30 CHF "service fee" from DHL etc. so i didnt want to order anything outside of CH really.

Amazon.de charges the import fees in advance if you select a faster shipping method.

This was my order from a couple of weeks ago.

Kindle Paperwhite, 15 cm (6 Zoll) hochauflösendes Display mit integrierter Beleuchtung der nächsten Generation, WLAN

Verkauft von: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.

EUR 108,40

Zwischensumme: EUR 108,40

Verpackung und Versand: EUR 19,77

Vorauszahlung der Importgebühr: EUR 10,51

Endbetrag: EUR 138,68

CHF 175.55*

So, no extra 50 CHF charges etc.? My friend in Zurich is worried that I might be charged extra and is asking me to use an address is Germany.

What is the total damage?
