In your own words just explain how you and your family have integrated into Swiss society. How yo interact with your neighbours and local businesses and how you keep abreast of communal and cantonal politics, which local journals, or websites that you regularly consult. Any local officials you might have met could be mentioned.
Is it not enough to write about the local fests you attend, museums/events etc you regularly visit, membership of a verein, Swiss friend/friends you regularly meet and the outdoor activities you do (in summer) with your friends in your canton etc?
No, nothing special. But my understanding is that 16 months is not particularly fast and is not unusual in the canton of Zürich. In fact there were couple of small delays in the process (missing documents had to be delivered, etc), so in theory it could have been 14-15 months. I know that in some other (small) cantons 12-14 months is normal.
Funny you are saying that, because I saw that when one entity is fast, the next entity in the next step delays the process. It doesnt look they do that because the next entity is busy, but rather to streamline. This is at least from my experience
Hi All, I have a few updates: Status changed to Prufung Bund. Processing time so far is in line with others in this forum.
Dec 2024: Application submitted
Feb 2025: Vorprufung
May 2025: Prufung Gemeinde
Oct 2025: Gemeinde Bürgerrecht
Nov 2025: Prufung Kanton
Feb 2026: Prufung Bund, and received Kanton+Gemeinde invoice
Mar 2026: Received SEM Invoice.
Iām happy that all actions from my side are done. All I need to do now is be patient.
Mine was also around the 15 months duration, Kanton Luzern, but facilitated naturalization. But I didnāt really speed it myself. After I got the invitation letter to apply, I took 3 just months to submit the documents to SEM, delayed my interview for 1 to 1 & 1/2 months due to personal reasons, and in the last bit I didnāt push the Gemeinde consistently for the documents and entries I needed in the system for the Passburo appointment which added a few weeks. So in some cases timelines could be reduced to even 12 months for clearcut cases.
Seems like they have increased their processing speed or resource capacity.
For ordinary naturalization, 15 months seems already priority processing, but clearcut (simpler) cases are generally faster, as it depends upon case complexity.
If 15 months is becoming the norm, then people should be generally happy about this.
Mine was 15 months. However, I have quite a large gap between the civil register and the starting of the process (sending of the documentation package) which was a personal choice.
hi how did you check the process? i applied mine towards the end of January 2026 for eleichtete Einburgerungen , i received the bill and i paid the 900chf in Feb, now i am just chilling and waiting.
What about if someone loses their job & also is not eligible for RAV? My file is with the Kanton. Just applied a month ago. But I had to quit my job. Showing savings enough? If the savings are around 250-300k? Single person
This is confusing. How can you reach Kanton approval after applying a month ago? Also, assuming you lived in CH for 10+ years you should be eligible for RAV in most cases. You can also try to become self employed for the foreseeable future which can help your case.
You are always eligible for RAV, but not necessarily unemployment benefits. If you quit it may be you have a 3-month penalty before you can draw unemployment, but after that you should have entitlement. You need to tell them, but unless you apply for social welfare, it shouldnāt be a deal-breaker.
Going into RAV is not a problem. However, asking for Social Assitance would be an issue. No one is going to ask you for your bank stament, so saving is not relevant.
I had my interview last month, before going there I asked them if I needed to bring any new or up-to-date document, and they asked me if I was still working at the same place. Since I am still working for the same company, they told I did not need to bring any document.
Thanks, litespeed and agi1987. What I meant is that Iām not eligible for RAV because I donāt meet the required contribution period.
I was previously on RAV before starting a job in a partnership venture, which unfortunately failed. During the initial months, I didnāt draw any salary as the company was still being set up. I then received a salary for a few months, but as things started going downhill with my business partner, I had to pause my salary again toward the end (it was a business decision I had to make).
Eventually, the situation deteriorated completely, and I decided to resign as I no longer saw any future in the venture. In hindsight, it also became clear that I had been misled, trapped and effectively scammed by my business partner ⦠Sometimes Life is a b****
hahahha why would someone want to deal with RAV unless eligible for payments it is not like they are there to help you, they are there to control you and make sure you are out of those payments as soon as possible no matter what shitty underpaid job you are eligible for. So yeah to deal with those folks for free would be baffling to say the least
i received empfangsbestƤtigung from the kanton which says that they recieved my application, teh process takes around 2 years and the first stage would take several months. And it also states that if there are any changes to my civil status then I should inform them. However it doesnāt say if I should inform them if thereās any change in my job situation. I called the Einbürgerungsamt last week and they told me to write to the department (Kanton/Gemeinde) where my applicaiton is at the moment. So not sure if I should write to the Kanton or my Gemeinde? Iām thinking of registering as self employed first and then inform them.
Hi,
Has anyone applied as self-employed or switched from employed to self-employed during the process in Canton Vaud?
Are there any requirements regarding a minimum income or proof of financial stability?
Thanks
