Organic apple cider vinegar

There's been a lot of buzz over the benefits of apple cider vinegar... good for digestion, heartburn, intestinal problems, high blood pressure, detoxification...

Anyone know where can I get some BIO apple cider vinegar in Baden?

Coop?

It's worth pointing out that you should never drink apple cider vinegar straight from the bottle. It needs to be diluted. And given its acidity, I seriously doubt it actually improves heartburn.

One of many articles advising caution:

It should also be diluted if taken rectally (or so I hear).

Let me tell you a little story about apple cider vinegar. It also had a brief moment in the sun about 25 years ago when people were into something called a "macrobiotic" diet.

At that time, I was working in a large, university teaching hospital in America in the high-risk pregnancy unit. We had a ditzy, new-age patient who was 44 and having her first child. At that time, having a baby at 44 was considered very, very high risk.

She delivered a perfectly normal, robust baby boy. When she came back for the baby's first check-up, the pediatrician had to admit that baby on the spot. The mother admitted that since SHE was on a macrobiotic diet, she thought it would be a good idea to put apple cider vinegar in the baby's formula. The baby almost died due to his mother's ignorance. He was severely underweight and dehydrated.

Be very careful how you go about consuming straight vinegar. Do your research.

Anyone know where I could find apple cider vinegar here? That is, what supermarket or other kind of store, as I realize most EF members are not in Ticino. (I order lots of stuff from Britshop but they don't carry it either.)

Thanks!

Carolyn

Apfelessig is what you can buy here, i have bought it in Coop.

^^^^^Yep. Looks like this:

You can find it right next to all the other vinegars and oils.

Migros, Coop, Denner.

Aceto di mele.

Perfect! Thank you all.

Does anyone know if the apple cider vinegar from Coop has the 'mother' in it?

If not, know where to get this from?

It doesn't have any floaty bits in, so I'd guess not.

If all else fails, there's always Amazon.

It does not. Go to a health food store (Reformhaus) for the unpasteurized kind with the mother in it. (But don't expect the mother to be viable as a starter for your own vinegar.)

Actually my previous bio one from Coop did contain floaty bits, but not in this new packaging.

Iam looking for the same thing with the mother in it. I used Bragg brand in the United states, but Iam having a difficult time locating a comparable product here in Zürich. I have been to several major grocerie stores and simply can't find one with the mother in it.

The Egli Reformhaus at Stauffaucher has an unpasteurised apple cider vinegar. The name is Beutelsbacher Apfelessig. I think it has the mother in it as well.

Thank you for your information! (I don ́t know why I can ́t thank you directly in your post).

In case someone is looking for Apple cider unpasteurized in Basel, the Mueller Reformhaus is located in Gerbergasse 35, 4001, almost in front of mitte.

I just started drinking it on the morning with warm water and lemon.

All the best to all of you!

Don`t know about the mother in cider vinegar but I used to buy cider in Axminster and the farmer used to say " There`s a baby in every bottle"

Pretty bad for the enamel on your teeth - especially with warm water rather than cold.

Pure would do but 1 tablespoon in a big glass of water make the difference.
