Otto's Mini

Seen some adverts calling the one in Marley Otto’s Mini. Checked on google and see there are a few others called the same, but anyone know what’s the difference between them and the other stores? Is it just the size of them or something else?

There’s one near me on the main street in Birsfelden at Baselland, used to be called Radikal, then it was rebranded. It’s really just a smaller OTTO, I go there for things like toiletries, cleaning stuff, dried goods, chocolates and other bits. They also stock clothing, trainers and electrical stuff much like you’d get in the bigger OTTO branches. When it changed from Radikal to OTTO it was refitted.

Yeah, I got to thinking it might be because they don’t have the furniture part of Otto’s too. At least the one at Marley doesn’t.

So they’re rebranding Radikal as well are they? Used to have one here, but it closed years ago.

The one near me isn’t very big but it has a good selection of stock, I go there for digestive biscuits :slightly_smiling_face: If I need a huge OTTO I go to the one at Kleinbasel.

Husband reminded me that the Otto’s Mini in Marley used to be Radikal. So I guess it’s mostly the Radikal stores that are getting the new name. Looks like there’s only 4 Radikal stores left in Switzerland.

According to Google, Radikal is a subsidiary of Otto and Otto Mini is a new concept.

Yes, Radikal is part of Otto’s; that was pretty obvious if you went into any of their stores as they stocked a lot of the same stuff Otto’s does.

One of those is close to me and I used to often pop in when passing, as they used to have my preferred coffee beans at a very low price. I haven’t been there for some months at least, so I just clocked on the radikal website, which is no longer showing it on the map, nor indeed any of the others.

Can we assume that it’s now completely changed all the shops to this new Otto’s mini?

The Otto’s connection was always obvious, but for some things like the coffee their offers did not coincide. There’s a full-sized Otto’s closer anyway, which I’ll pop into every couple of months, it’s the only place I know that sells pappardelle, my preferred pasta, and very cheaply too. Oh, and HP sauce in several variants.

Four are remaining as Radical stores.
