Our middle eastern guests in Geneva

I have had it up to my pointy ears already with this lot and its only the 1st full week they are here.

The arrogance which these people bring to this town during the summer months is just staggering.

Blokes cruising around in cars shouting out to any female pedestrian to expect her to get in the car, married or single regardless. Pavement shisha bars become a total no go area also.

The hotels have become a total souk with only the slathering money seeking managers there with a ready welcome.

The drivers adopting a "i will put this merc where i want and I simply don`t care"

I got in a lift last night and because the doors closed on some twat who couldnt decide whether to get in or not, he decided to slag me off in arabic, whilst being told by his wife in 50/50 english arabic that it was his own fault.

The litter being left on the street for the council employees to clear up the next day.

Its a total disgrace.

Is there some sort of conference going on there?

well their culture sure is different

Nope its the annual influx of tourists that arrive for the 2 months and include the Fetes de Geneve

I have no problem with a different culture, but I can assure you that they do not behave like that at home.

I couldnt tell but coming from an international school , thats the way they would behave their. especially ini my bar, the money they would throw out was mindblowing

Maybe you should think twice about inviting them next time?

If it was up to me.............

But I invite you down at the weekend to enjoy the experience

Isn't this what all Geneva is waiting for every year, the only way to make their banks work, expensive watches sell and they pay the full fireworks costs.

We might not like this but believe me all businesses and government love it and work hard to increase it.

If it was genuine then yes, however the quality of the food in the restaurants goes off a cliff on july 1 IF you can get in one, the biggest business is for "minders" who get off on looking hard and getting in everybodys way, the banks don`t need them here to clean up their dosh, and we all pay for the fireworks in our taxes

Back home (in Egypt), we call this kind of Gulf citizens buckets full of money...nothing at all about being human

Correction: Fireworks of Geneva is not paid of taxes, it's Arab sponsored

There are no conferences, as far as I know, but there are school programs that bring entire classes here for the whole summer holidays..Study abroad programs. Most of the kids actually concentrate around Starbux at the River, try to get coffee or a seat there after they are done, horrific. Since we have Stitch and Bitch there, it's funny to really not fit in...but it has been every summer since 2007. They often bring family members for visits, while they are studying. I haven't seen any littering, nor obvious hustle..but I'm not there everyday.

AFAIK last years was paid for by Geneva , previous years were sponsored by each competing nation in a firework competition- but not Arab sponsored.

Their elaborate displays of consumption are built upon empires of oppression for the most part. But Switzerland still has the Nazi gold so I guess this isn't really a hypocritical position...

Pop down before 06h00 between Pres Wilson and Kempinski

I thought a large slab or even all of the major fireworks display at the end of the Fete was paid for by a middle-eastern donor? Perhpas it is a bit of a myth going around, but thats what all the ppl I come into contact with think is the case.

This is what happens when you don't live in Basel.

Last year Geneva added % as it happened to be Ramadan, which meant the Arabs had to get back to their countries and were not in fireworks, this year will probably be the same.

For sure i know the Saudi royal family is paying big % of this, followed by the Sultan of Oman

A useful phrase might help. Here is Natalie portman explaining:

You're absolutely correct, Geneva is totally sold to Arabs in summer and they make really enormous money of these people.

I know that 1 family do rent the residential suite at wilson for +30 days @ 140k a night

Displays of expenditure in Geneva is no problem at all, its the behaviour of the people here that is totally unacceptable. If visitors want to stay in b&b or in pres suites , thats fine, but not to behave in such a way that revolts the local community. This is not a money thing and incidentally, you might want to check on the ownership of said hotels. There are not many locally owned.
