Paramotor

Hi All,

I have seen numerous threads on the forum regarding paragliding, but there is nothing related to Paramotoring.

Does anyone on the forum have any experience with Paramotoring, is it legal in Switzerland, what are the regulations, where is the best place to go to learn and train for something like this?

I'd expect it not to be a big thing in Switzerland, it just got allowed since June 2015 and only the electrical versions.

However you are in Zürich, so you are in luck since Zürich is home to Skyjam Zurich Paragliding (Hardturmstrasse 30) who give courses and can help you get the legally needed license.

Thanks for the feedback. I have contacted SkyJam and will be going to check it out on the weekend.

I will keep the post updated

Enjoy the airtime

The last time I looked into this was for ultralight aircraft and it was the case that petrol engined aircraft were banned in Switzerland, but electric ones were not (for obvious reasons). We're pretty much talking about the same type of engines, so I would expect paramotors to be lumped in with ultralights.

I don't really see the point of paramotoring in Switzerland with so many hills and almost perfect conditions most days for paragliding.

(and great public transport for getting back after those longer flights).

What's the appeal?

I second to this, except the weather bit is stretchy, or one would have to chase the conditions all over the CH, which is challenging(assuming one has other commitments).

I seem to vaguely remember Autogyros flying from somewhere near Basel, now that looked like fun. Although I doubt I could fly one without this in my head.
